Hey Jonny,

Just in case you don't check the SSM site, Big Al's wanting you to e-mail him re the comp!
» scottish sugden-like site (Go to post)07-02-2007 @ 09:09

We had a small strength comp up here in a local gym with the boys at the end of December, thats what made me wanna do this one, was such good crack! That was the first time i had picked up a stone, quite liked it! It was 100kg stone load for reps in 60 seconds, got it 9 times (video below), but have never tried a 110 or 120kg stone, hope to try this weekend!

s**t, 9 reps with the 100 is impressive. I am now officially s**tting myself. You know if you beat me that I will complain that your strength comp counts as a strongman comp, and that you should not have been eligible for a 1st timers? Wink Tongue

I've been training strongman for a while, but have slacked off over the winter coz of typical dodgy weather (and being lazy!). Farmers is my weakness too. If i can manage to pick them up i'll be happy, but will start crying when they slip out my hands after 1.56m Happy

Hey Rosco,

Think 3 guys from this board are in for sure (2 of us from Edinburgh though), and possibly another 2 more depending on if Al's taking any late entries.

Look forward to seeing you there!

p.s. care to give away any inside info on your guys (strengths/weaknesses)Wink Grin

Good events, and nice to see a comp that isn't doing floor to overhead log. Reckon you boys should get your names down. I'd be up for coming to watch if circumstances permit.

Olly and Jonnymills - Your names are not on the list of competitiors, which was posted yesterday. It might be worth e-mailing big Al to see if there is any chance to still get in, but i fear the doors may be closed.

Game on!

Log - 3 or 4 reps
Farmers - 20m, depends a lot on the implements used though
Yoke - 15secs, and chain, not sure, mibbie finish it in a minute
Medley - wildcard, fitness will let me down, but i'm sure i'll at least complete the course
Stones - up to 110 and have a bash at the 120

Solid lifting Jonny. Great work on the log PBs especially!
» Goals of 2007 Thread (Go to post)02-02-2007 @ 11:07
Hmm, not sure why I hadn't posted in this before... Anyway, ten goals, here goes;

Squat - 180kg
Bench - 130kg
Deadlift - 230kg
Overhead press (log) - 100kg and/or bodyweight
Yoke - 300kg for 20m
18" deadlift - 250kg
Farmers walks - 120kg for 20m - this will be hard, i am weak as f**k at them for some reason.
Stone - 150kg to standardish platform
Improve endurance/cardio/fitness
Get traps so big that I no longer have a neck Happy

Last call for forms/entrants! Got to be in by this Friday, 2nd Feb. After that a list will be drawn up of all competitors.

You need to learn to tense your tongue on the yoke walk. It helps with stabilisation.

Good to see a log Jonny. Solid training as always. Any plans to do any other comps later in they year, or just the first timers and then see what happens?

Good session Olly! Cracking on the farmers especially. Get your name down for the comp before it's too late - you know it makes sense Happy

Nice. A kg of CEE is hcore also. When you get the pea in such quantities, it is in a nice big 15kg sack.

But they're all stuff you can also do with one, so i think the benefits of having 2 are not as simple as 2x1.

Me and Jono ordered some the other day. I just got a pair of 24's, but that mad f**ker got 12's, 16's, 32's and 40's, pairs of them all! Not sure if it's worth having two now really, so might sell one of my 24's, just got caught up in the moment Happy Will be good for endurance stuff i reckon, and also for going away (short breaks and s**t when it's hard to take any sort of equipment).
