Thats very good considering your size. Last time I had mine checked it was 140/90 which apparently is borderline high.

What, are they skinny as well?

Brits are usually april/may time.

Agreed mother f**kers!

Cheers Joni, yes, it was a raw double. Although I felt my foot move while pressing the second rep. I dont feel like its improved in any way. I have doubled 150 a few times now and it just doesnt feel any different. No loss though, but Im fed up with lifting the same, and I dont want to be one of those lifters who clings on to a training program that has stopped working just because it has sentimental value. So as soon as I get a date for the British I can sit down and work out a plan of action.

Wicked stuff there Carl. Very good to double your pb. T was right, the bum definately come up on the second rep. It also looked like it moved a bit on rep 1, but Im not sure wether you put daylight between your ass and the bench. Good stuff mate Happy

Tonights training;

Bench press
20x20
60x10
120x2
140x1 all sets up to this one had a paused last rep
150x2 same a-bloody-gain! Subconciously I did not believe in myself as I said "2 reps" out loud, and Carl said "dont you mean 3" and I said "s**t yeah, I mean 3"!

Reverse close grip bench press
80x6
102.5x6
102.5x6
102.5x6

Underarm chins
Bodyweightx8
+32.5x6
+32.5x6
+32.5x6

Bent over barbell rows
100x8
160x8
162.5x7

A good session tonight, the 2 reps on bench means yet another static training cycle on bench, but to look on the bright side it certainly hasnt gone down, it was a solid 2 reps. Assistance work I felt particularly strong on. I will go for a pb on chins next week as at the moment it is 33.5x3x6. Deadlifts on friday and a heavy triple planned with 280. I am going to use a belt and a "touch and go" style.

Hi Neil. With regards to your weakness off the chest, do you ever do paused reps? I reckon these would help develop explosiveness off the chest. The dumbells idea is a good one, my inclination would be to do them on bench day after regular bench press.

word on the street is phil is gonna use a super dehydration tactic to come in at 89.9kg

Yes, I am going to dehydrate myself massively, then my private doctor is going to put me on a drip of rehydration fluid so I quickly get back up to 100kgs but lift at 90kgs Grin

Cheers for the kind words T and Rob Happy

Thing, Carl seems to think hes my official spokeperson, hes always answered for me, but he is right, I do them on a calf machine.

Nico, I actually laughed when I saw that video, I do seem to dissappear a bit quickly lol! I get a bit excited before I lift, Im sure a lot of people in the gym think Im a bit of a head case!

Off to do bench in a bit, lets hope its a good one this time.

Hi Titch, for some reason I seem to recognise your name, didnt you used to post on here before?Grin
Are you back in to training now?

Marc, I dont know a date for the equipped British yet, just keep checking the message board mate, Im sure as soon as they get a date it will be up there. I would like to know when it is as I like to put together a training plan. Yes, you are unfortunate to be competing against Les and Mark, two very awesome lifters!

Yes Iain, how childish of me, I only went 205 because you went 200. Perhaps I need to grow up!

Anyway, last nights training;

Squats
60x10
100x8
140x5
180x3 belt from here on
200x1
205x3x3 the video above was of the 2nd set.

Front squats
130x6
130x6
130x6

Standing calf raises
100x8
300x6
300x6
300x6

Good session tonight. There was already a couple of youngsters on the rack who very kindly let us train with them so that we didnt have to wait. They are both competing at the divisionals. Both are talented, one is only 18 and is sqautting 160 for easy 3s, he also deads 210 and he only weighs 85kgs. The other one is about 78kgs, 20 years old and lifts roughly the same, so there is a couple to watch out for in the future, as well as Carl of course.

Yes mate, although I havent posted much in your log I have been keeping an eye on. Good stuff mate and wicked weight loss.
» Phils journey to the worlds (Go to post)15-01-2008 @ 17:32
If they had curry in them then yes, I would eat them. Just had a pre training madras actually.

No mate, I havent got them yet, I may just pick up a couple from H+B, as I dont have much spare cash. Either that or I ll get a box nearer the time and we can split them.

Ok mate. You are right with the hitching, it doesnt matter in strongman, as long as you get the weight up, and Im sure with bare legs and talc the bar would have travelled smoothly enough for you to lock out anyway. Good stuff mate, I look forward to seeing more videos!
» Carls Powerlifting Journal (Go to post)15-01-2008 @ 12:21
Whats the plan for your squatting tonight?
» Iain's Training (Go to post)15-01-2008 @ 12:19
Impressive squatting there mate, and a nice gain on bench with that shirt. What shirt is it? If you can put it on yourself then you will do sooooo much more with a tight one.
