hammerman said: Great result yesterday mate. Solid all day. Position was never in doubt My 86kg weigh in was fully clothed, keys/phone/change in pockets, and I still had my trainers on. Nearly weighed in with bag on shoulder. I'm the lightest!! Sorry boys, I am still the lightest 81.4 for me fully clothed lol, I am almost embarassed. Well done to Adam, John and Ben for winning the weight cat and everyone who competed, really enjoyed the day and looking forward to the final. Thanks to Craig and all the helpers on the day, my favourite comment was at weigh in, Ben told me I should have had a bigger breakfast. Damo

hammerman said: More a case that by the time I get to 13-14 reps my forearms will be on fire and fingers look like I'm crippled with arthritis. LOL The point I'm trying to make is DL for reps is not really an event to test grip. Farmers clearly is, especially when it is for distance. I think grip will fail guys long before the rest of their body gives out. The point Darren is trying to make and he will correct me if I am wrong is, everyone there will have a fairly decent grip or wouldn't get far in strongman comps but if you have torn your hands to shredds on deadlift repping out and I have seen this several times at comps, that you are not going to get going with the farmers. Getting beat on farmers by a guy who has done 20m further than you is fine but getting beat because your hands were torn up, that's not so fun

That sounds very wrong Daz, when are you going to change your bodyweight on your profile to reflect your extra unused muscle

hammerman said: Hope these aren't the final positions? We would never hear the last of it from "Log Lift Larrington"! HaHa I need to consider if that should be stone lift Larrington after the weekend but doesn't have the same ring to it

hammerman said: Suppose you smashed a whopping 4 or summink?! Good work fella. I did let you have that one coz I know you're falling behind in many of the other lifts. Mate you did look more comfortable up to the 105 but as usual you were only doing partials . Going to be a while to catch you on deadlift with my back but, will have to settle for a squat off lol.

hammerman said:I've spent most of my sporting career giving away hieght and weight to freaks of nature, on the rugby pitch or throwing field. There is nothing better than putting the big guy on his arse or out throwing some giant......except competing on a physical level "playing field". Where do I sign up? Currently 80kg (chubby) 5ft 5in. Ready for The ant and just planning my 2012 schedule! And there are one or two others I know would raise to this challenge. I agree with hammerman, I have competed against guys who are upto 40kg heavier than me in athletics and won due to technique or speed. I have been training hard for the ant next week but ultimately planning to do more u90 comps next year, I would love to have a go at under 75! |
