Alright guys, im in the Army and currently serving in Germany. Iam new to strongman but did my first comp 2 weeks ago (placing 4th) and am now hooked. My question is what competitions am I able to enter back in the UK? Can I enter any regional qualifiers or do I have to do the southern ones, as im originally from Portsmouth?

Thanks for the response guys, its great to see that there are people who are willing to give advice and help along your journey. From what has been said I think I have the routine pretty much nailed, but time will tell and if needs be I can change things. Big gray, thanks for the advice with regards the diet, it feels good to be able to eat more (although still in slight moderation). Already Iam feeling alot stronger, as I was able to lift more in my events training last night than I did at the comp 2 weeks ago, something must be working.

So my diet is pretty good then as im probably consuming around 3000 calories with 300g protein, 300-350g carbs and about 120g fat (good fat from olive oil and nuts etc) I did switch to a 3 day split about 3 weeks ago which consisted of a push day then pull day and finally a legs day. And an events day once a week. I was just panicing slightly as although i feel good and strong i dont get the pump or burn in my muscles as i did with my old training routine, also i dont want to get fat. Come on guys tell me how you train and help out a newbie

Hi guys im new to strongman but not to lifting weights. I have been a bodybuilder for a number of years but now am getting really tired of the dieting. I have watched strongman for about 20 years and have always wanted to give it a go, but being in the forces limits me as to how much body weight i can put on before it becomes difficult to do my job. Despite this I actually entered a novice u100kg comp and came 4th, missing out on 3rd by 2 points and 2nd by 3 points, so not bad really. There is an awesome gym near me that caters really well for strongman so the eqpt is available to train for events, my question is do I still train as a bodybuilder ie; 4 day split, training each body part once a week, doing 3/4 exercises per body part. Or does my weight sessions change drastically? Also what about diet? Currently I consume 6/7 meals a day and have worked out daily protein, carb and fat amounts which get shared throughout the day. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |
