I am currently in the process of trying to gain associated status with the ASCB for Army Strongman. For this to be achieved though we, as a club need to show growth within the sport over a period of time.

Whilst I was based in Germany we ran a strongman club and held 3 very successful competitions. I have kept a record of these and have started to build up a profile for the proposed new club.

I will also be organising a first timers comp in december to generate more interest in the sport, this will hopefully be held in Colerne. Matt France is also in the process of organising a comp in december up in dishforth.

What I am asking for is that all Army strongmen get in touch with me so that I can create a database of athletes which will include contact details for yourselves (in order to inform you of up coming comps) and a record of comps that you have competed in (mil and civ).

I have alot of exciting ideas for how to push strongman forward so please get in touch and help to grow this sport.

I would also be very interested to get in touch with the Navy and RAF organisers for Strongman as I have some ideas for a combined services comp.

so to be clear, the majority vote is that my routine looks ok and I should just stick with it?

Does anyone have a good push/pull routine that I can have a look at

not too much chest work at all lol, look at all the good strongmen, poundstone etc, they have chests. they dont have any particularly outstanding weak spots. i think thats the way, keep everything strong/big.
edit: i think u'd benefit much more doing sldl's over ham curls btw, and how come you dont do any direct rear delt work? people get shoulder issues when the muscles become imbalanced

I used to do rear flyes for rear delts but found that I work them just as well during bent over rows as I pull the bar to my chest rather than my stomach.

Do you recommend doing incline press first or flat bench first?

Thanks for the input guys. I dont class myself as old just yet I just know that time is running out to make huge gains Happy Like I said, I just want to be the best that my body is capable of.

Do you think that I should keep Incline press for chest as this has some carry over into my pressing events?

I will list my current training schedule and would like peoples opinions/criticism as to wether its the right programme I should be following.

I train for strongman and although I know that I will never compete on a national level (due to my current strength level and the fact that im now 33 so time is not on my side) I would still like to be the best that I can be.

I train 4 days a week and do events either on a wednesday or saturday. I generally keep my reps between 4-6 and do 4 working sets of each exercise, although will generally do more sets on my compound lifts. My current split is as follows:

Monday Chest & bi's
Bench press
Incline press
Flyes
Curls (curl bar)
Dbell curl

Tuesday Back
Deadlift
Pulldown
Bent over row
Barbell shrug

Thursday Shoulders & tri's
Standing strict press
Seated dbell press
Side lat raises
Close grip press
Weighted dips

Friday Legs
Squat
Front squat
Ham curls

I have been contemplating switching to more of a push pull programme and would appreciate anyone giving me a routine to reflect this.

Many thanks

Depends what you want it for.
As a general supplement to increase daily protein intake I'd use true whey or impact whey (cheaper).

I want to increase my daily intake but also want to get bigger and stronger which is why im looking at the all in ones

What is everyone buying from My Protein? There are quite a few different protein blends and all in one formulas. Which is best?

Isn't whey protein pretty much lactose free anyway on the basis that the lactose is the sugary carbohydrate part of milk and whey protein is pretty much carb free????
As Mark indicates, if it doesn't trigger any reaction then why bother sourcing an almost definitely more expensive "lactose-free" branded version?

I just like chocolate milk before bed and at present add a couple of spoons of nesquik to my lacto free milk.

I dont intend to replace protein shakes with chocolate milk, just wondered if there was a decent lacto free brand on the market?

Mark - Are you aware if there is a Lacto free chocolate milk on the market?
» Lacto free (Go to post)22-08-2012 @ 15:06
Yeah I know what you mean mate, just wondered if there were any other brands that were Lacto free and reasonably priced?
» Lacto free (Go to post)22-08-2012 @ 14:35
Does anybody else buy Lacto free protein and if so what brands and where from? I like Muscle milk but it can be expensive
