Yeah, which is fine when youtime it right, not so good when you dont. Mostly I lowered it slowly like some kind of horrific negative rep, which was way harder than the press.

I would never normally do it, but it is in a comp that depending on work I might now be doing in August.

I have gone from just having our local comp in August, to possibly having 3 in 3 weeks. Got a job interview next week which might mean I get to do none of them though

Had very little time today

Behind the neck press
70x5
100x2
120x1
120x1
70x5
70x5
70x5
Dropping this back on the back is horrible, just about broke myself. Could do a lot more but fear of f**king up the drop stopped me

Get yourself a bigger ass, then it might stay on the bench Happy

Very very impressive mate, you dont look anywhere near that strong Wink

I think it looks rubbish for an event. Fine to train fir tyre flip I guess, but wouldn't find it great in a comp

You really shouldn't let yourself get so excited at watching young men's asses bouncing up and down

I bet most will be Ok

Indeed, I was gutted about that. Normally press far heavier ones comfortably, but just couldn't get that to sit at all.

I could do all 4 on a good day with a db that sat ok. That one from the qual and it would be a max of 3

I may be there, but if I am it might be my 3rd comp in august

Looks good, well apart from frame hold.

I will see how things pan out with work, as it looks a fun comp and I have spoken to Stevie about going for a buffet or a burger challenge afterwards Happy

Hopefully I can do it.

Nick, you doing it?

Martin, you should do it anyway, its not as if you have to travel for it

Ha ha, have they replaced the fake plates with real ones?

My deadlift can drop 20kg from week to week for no aparent reason, although I think hydration is a big part of it.

Are you drinking enough non alcoholic drinks?

Cheers lads.

I guess it felt better as it got heavier because I had to think more about the squat and less about the pain Happy

Should be better next week
» Competing as a novice (Go to post)09-07-2013 @ 08:44
As has been said a hundred times on these boards the issue is with the terms the comps are classed under.

Having competed at a higher level you are not a novice, as this suggests inexperience. I dont like the term novice, but it seems to have stuck.

I am another in favour of a system that classes comps according to your ability rather than experience. This is the way in most other sports, you work your way up, and when age or unjury takes their toll you often drop a few levels. We should be able to do the same.

If the weights are right then it should be the right comp for you.

My concern about this though is that were it to change I think you would get a lot of guys filling out the lighter comps rather than pushing on to struggle in the heavier ones, and it may become too heavily saturated with that level of guys, at least for a while.

As it is, I think talking to the promoter about the situation would be the way forward, as for now it would be at their discretion.

It is for issues like these that some sort of governing body would be helpful
