» Clean to Front Squat ratio (Go to post)05-05-2013 @ 00:28
seems like from the answers from the people I know as coming from an olympic lifter background generally sounds like my percentage was about right - or we are all weird

don't answer that

unless you are going to do over head lifting and intend to drop it you dont need rubber weights and you can get a decent bar these days for less than 100 quid

power rack good shout for safety but again you could buy some free standing

squat/preesing stands that can then be put out the way when not in use saving space

in your garage depends on how comfortable you feel using them they can double up use

for benching too but safety even more so when benching alone

While I was doing a bit of coaching with the guys down the gym they always ask questions like how much is a good so and so lift - I say just train and try to get stronger dont worry about what other people do

then this question came up which was actually quite a valid one for a change

I read years ago you should do about 75%

mine was about 93% 172 clean / but with only 185 fr sq

I remember my team mate many years ago 145 clean 195 front squat ?

so as a straw poll what 'split was/is yours ?

thoughts ? strong pull just very effective clean crap squat or bit of both

If I was in my Prime like Shaun Clegg I wuold be tempted to compete in the cross fit games rather than the Olympic Games (although why not do both)

Why ?

Olympic Games 1992 I was 26th Place - Prize money f**k all even if I was capable of winning it

Cross Fit games Champion last year did 140-170 at around 90 kilos bw what i did at 75k

Prize Money Five hundred thousand dollars !!!!!!! Sponsored by Rebok

true they dont just do the lifts but I would seek a coach on the fitness gymnastic 'event' like say some body who knows his stuff on varius elements ie

strongman training - Mark Clegg

and a certain fitness coach who helped the Manchester United football Team

granted this is a one off event but I would try to find smaller events with prize money of a few grand or even a few hundred quid

Well thoughts ?

» snatch help please (Go to post)13-02-2013 @ 20:22
when you caught it in the recieve position you relaxed - you need to keep your chest up, you also did so many 80% singles that you looked f**ked so your technique going

snatch is so precise 1 degree out and its so easy to miss it

it takes a keen eye to see the difference between missing it because it was just too heavy and when you are just f**ked - if you keep missing it either go down and finish with a few light ones or forget totally and go on to another exercise
