If you don't have a big Phil, you need a dance http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=02oOsUMMOto That is the best thing i have ever seen!!!!! Just part of the foolishness, that passes for sport in our world, it works though I might try that technique!

Fatpete said: I think you may be overlooking the fact that you are young and attractive, believe me when I trained in a conventional gyms, no-one came within twenty feet. And the mirror fixated will fast lose interest when they discover heavy singles and power bellys As a female the trick is then to play the sexist "you can't let a woman show you up" trick and also the "but women like hardcore strong men" one too

Martin1956 said: I think there's scope for "demonstration events" to attract new lifters to the sport. I agree - I would love for there to be other powerlifters in my gym. And many people have been very interested and receptive to me when they have asked me what I am doing (especially now with all these weird bits of clothing appearing). I think alot of iron-pumping mirror-fixated guys could be easily recruited to the sport given the opportunity and a decent demonstration.

Thanks guys. I felt pretty good after the workout - decided that I had done pretty well for my first session and look forward to taking on the equipped stuff again until I master it The bruises are the biggest discomfort as I bruise very badly and takes a long time to go away! On an upside, I am starting to *want* my knee wraps tighter these days - must be a good sign!

Pete said: as you'd imagine most of the next day wasn't too good. NEVER AGAIN. Joni, Jonathan and some other guys from the VeganFitness forum had an eatathon one day this year (or was it last year) and my housemate (a non-experienced bulker) joined in. He must have eaten close on 8k but he was really ill the next day and ended up puking violently as he was driving me and another friend up to Snowdonia. Not a good day out. Having said that, until the last year or so I have been a prodigious eater - ask Jono and Joni - for my size I could pack away a hell of a lot of food, non-stop, and very very quickly.

Saturday 10th Nov 07 I decided today that I would have a play with my squat suit... It wasnt until the last 2 sets of squats that I felt it was more or less seated and the last set gave me a hint of what and how a squat suit does and helps. There was lots of contorsions going on between sets as I slowly inched (or rather mm by mm) got the suit higher. Bottoms only 10xbar 5x60kg Straps up 2x60kg nowhere near parallel and really uncomfortable! 3x80kg still a long way from parallel but helped seat the suit a little 2x90kg again a long way from parallel. f x 90kg - i really worked hard to get down to parallel but it felt too weird and it was such a fight getting down, that I couldnt get back up again 2x90kg not parallel f x 90kg see above 2x90kg partial reps f x 90kg 2x90kg partial reps f x 90kg At this point finally the suit was about seated - not quite but just about. 3x90kg probabl just off parallel but yeah could sort of understand how this suit thing works. Decided to leave it on the up point there. To be resumed. I think I would benefit more from suit AND knee wraps too so next squat session that I do equipped (Friday next week) I will try both. Swim (10lengths barely worth mentioning) and sauna. Bruise list: farmers bruises from unit 20 last week Squat bar bruises on back Bench shirt bruises on backs of arms Knee wrap bruises on backs of knees Squat suit bruises on thighs.

Friday 09 Nov 07 Squats: 10 x 60kg unequipped and no belt 3x80kg with loose belt With knee wraps 2x90kg 1x95kg 2,2,2 x 100kg pretty easy. more lack of confidence than anything else as I think there would have possibly been a few more reps in each set. Unequipped 5 x 80kg nice and easy Deadlifts with strict form 3x90kg 3,3,3 x 100kg Shrugs 5 x100kg but was lacking in range so took the weight down 10,10,10 x 80kg Rows 3x10x40kg too light will do more weight next week Rack pulls 3x108kg 1,1,1 x 153kg ouch but concentrated on hip drive. Lateral pulldowns 10x40kg 10x50kg but form wasnt strict 10x40kg bit easy Hanging Leg raises alternated with Leg raises to L onn dip bars 2 sets of 10 of each
