helps when lifting too

I would say the major difference would be that the OH event day is a max effort day but thats pretty much it.

The squat/deadlift day i would plan on being the major arse kicker & assistance wise id prob only be looking at some prowler/hillsprint work or GHRs with core work.

Been considering a training plan alteration given all this time ive got to think about training whilst not actually being allowed too (til the pec tendon repair surgery is healed)

I have figured four session per week:

A max effort Squat & Deadlift day (+ accessory)

A max effort Bench day (+accessory inc. OH work)

A lower body event day with squat/deadlift assist exercises

An Overhead press event day with press accessory work.

just my thoughts

My missus is great, doesn't b**ch about my training (well very little anyway) and comes to all my comps.
However I try my best not to let training affect my family life - I train a couple of nights a week after the missus has gone to bed and do my best not to let sore legs / back stop me from having fun with Mini Mac.

I train at work during lunch time and VERY occaisionally visit a friends gym to train, she always comes along but doesnt enjoy it one bit, she has watched me compete in strongman and play a few seasons of american football all (vocally) begrudgingly - fair enough the football was every sunday morning and one evening a week during the season and pre-season. Whenive been dieting she will buy KFC for dinner and other such s**t.

I think having a partner who has an interest in something-anything makes it so much easier, a partner who takes part in a sporting persuit even better because they understand the training and the mindset a lot more.

Michael_Jones said:Hey guys

I was wondering what assistance work people find helps improve RAW squatting. ive heard box squats really help equipped lifters, do they also help RAW lifters? apart from the leg press pretty much left with piddly things like lunges, extensions an curls which iv never found too helpful apart from conditioning. Also does board work help a raw bench? as it does equipped. any help appreciated

More Squats, Front squats, Box step ups (weighted ofcourse) and walking lunges.

G-M's, rack/deficit pulls, high rep leg presses (experiment with foot position for best carryover to hamstrings)

Weighted dips, Db floor presses, NG BB floor press w/chains

These are the assistance exercises that work best for me.

And in all fairness ive been doing a lot of box squats lately that have had excellent carryover to my raw squat
