» Manimal's training log (Go to post)28-04-2013 @ 19:46
Well what felt like a marathon session today.

Front squats - worked up to a beltless pb triple of 137.5k.

Deadlifts - lesson learned today - after about 18 months of no consistent deadlifting, jumping from 170 to 210 is no longer an option. Lol Settled on 180 for doubles to ease back in.

Strict press - 5x6@52.5, 6@55, 6@57.5

Bench - Easy triple at 120, so did an equally single at 125, and another at 130.

I was very surprised with the bench today - haven't been above 110 really in months and haven't been training it with any consistency at all. Even more surprising is that it was after pre-exhausting my shoulders. Happy

Been taking it easy and having some fun. No serious training worth mentioning.

Been messing about with raw front squats and liking the beginners gains I've been getting over the past few weeks. Target is to get my front up over 150k in the next 4 weeks. Weird thing is that my 6 and single are only about 20k apart on this at the meantime, whereas the difference between the 6 and 1 on backs is about 45k.

Sqwats were fine, going well considering bodyweight still 87, gave my shoulders good going over at the weekend, loads of foam rolling with a rolling pin, pole dislocations, tiger balm each night and tissue massage each morning during hot shower.

Tissue massage - another name for "gentleman's time?" lol

After last weeks performance I opted for an easier week.

SKWATZ - 6@155, 1@70, 1@182.5 (singles belted) then fronts 6@70, 2x3@100, 2@110, 1@117.5, 1@122.5 (all raw)

BENCH - 4@120, 2@125, 1@130, 1@135, 15@90, 14@90.

That is all. Can you float like Wiege floaats?????

Not had a chance to watch the above video yet. Hopefully I will later on this evening though.

Issue with car sorted Happy No charge for those parts to me whatsoever. I also got told by one of the guys there that I can get some aftermarket parts that are way more durable for about £15 the pair!!!! So, if they end up needing done again, I'll buy the parts and get them fitted elsewhere. (I know someone who, as long as he has access to the right tools, could do it gratis.)

About another 2 hours to go today... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

A so-so session last night.

Squats - easy 6 at 155. Opted to try a double at 175. Got the first one but not the second. Put on a belt and got the single again. Did some front as 105 and 125.

Started benching. Struggled to get 4 at 105. Then, swapped the bar (we'd been using the black one) Rattled out an easy 6 at 105 followed by a double at 125, followed by 3x6@115, 13@90, 12@90, 34@52.5.

Wish we'd had the better bar from the offset last night. Might have made a difference to the squatting...

Good first proper session back last night.

Squats - 3x6@150 followed by fronts 6@100 - all easy

Bench - 6@100, 4@120, 2@130, 40@52.5

The only set of the night I opted for spotters was the 130 - didn't think I'd be able to lift it off the racks by myself.

I also got to tell a certain gbpf idiot not to ever talk to me again.

HAPPY DAYS!!!!!

Nearly had my rage face on tonight...

Went to the gym and did my warm up set of 8 with the 26k bells and was gonna move to 8s with the 30s but found that one of them was missing.

So, opted for the 32s and did 2 sets of 7 instead.

Then I did some deads though had no chalk and was using an oly bar so my grip was giving out at 180k.

Decided to move to the cardio and did a good solid 20 mins on the bike. Starting to see improvement now - had difficulty ramped up higher than before and heartrate was lower than last time.

I believe that as I'm taking time out from comps, I may well start hitting cardio more than once a week and see if I can get myself back to the 74s...

I see you doing oly lifting with 120k on the bar, I see you.

Looks like I have a fan pretending to be me on your filming duties and his name is MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTAN. lol

Was good work last night bro!

Squats last night were ok - still above double bodyweight so guess I can't complain.

Bench was 5x6@112.5, 6@115 + 50@50 Happy In yo face Wiege! Wink

Did some stretching and some standing press with 50k - the most I've managed in a standing position, without either using a push press or my left shoulder coming out, since I was about 19 Happy

Wiege, Martin and Ross all looking strong last night as was wee Danny "SAH!"

Something needs to be done about the foul stench that appears in the POA from time to time - was stinking last night!

I'm working hard to get this, hoping in next quarter, it's not easy when you're 6 foot 1 and 88kg! I know I can get this, just need to work smart and hard, the 135 missed by a ball hair so another 5kg should not be unreasonable surely?

The best gains I remember you making was when we did normal style heavy bench twice a week that year we ended up at Venice for one of the sessions. Might be an idea to try that again for a while bud??

Bry, next week I'm gonna do my 50 reps 1st and take the glory haha :P

Thanks for all the coaching as of late dude it's helping me come on great!

My ass - I'll do mine before squatting. Lol.

As for the coaching - you're the one doing the work. All I'm doing is getting you doing things that worked for me.

Yeah, but 2 short of the target buddy. Will get it in the next couple of weeks hopefully.

Am tight pretty much all over today - legs n glutes from the squatting, chest from the high reps plus the 1 + 1/4 reps set and matrix set I did after the 50 rep attempt, and my abs from doing flags.

Still, lets me know I've been able to work Happy
