Rico said:Good sessions here! Are you lifting in the Scottish unequipped on Saturday? Thanks Rico. No - I've a competition on the 19th of March, so another couple of weeks training for me yet. I'm aiming for pb doubles on squat by then as well. Are you lifting on Saturday?

Good session today SQUATS 5@160 raw, 1@175 (step) 3@187.5, 3@190, walkout and 1/4 with 210 then 227.5 - pb with the 187.5 and again with the 190 and even got the 190 on film thanks to Wiege - video to follow. BENCH 5x3@125 I felt strong tonight and very happy with the way things are moving along. Props to Martin and Wiege on their squats tonight - looking good guys! This is all.

Very short session today but did what needed doing mostly. DEADS Top sets - 3@185 sumo (strength would have allowed for more, but grip wouldn't) 2@195 conventional - easy - could have done another 2 reps at least I reckon. BARBELL ROW 2x12@70, 2x8@80, 2x8@90 I think to go much heavier on these I'll be using straps as grip eases off a bit during sets SEATED DUMBELL PRESS 10@22, 8@26, 8@30, 6@34 Rep pbs on the 30s and 34s. Quite happy with that. HEADSTAND AB FOLDS 2x8 Didn't do dragon flags as I wanted away to get food - hungry hungry. Plus, doing them so close to heavy squats might not be such a good idea...

Mate, you're still progressing, so be happy The platform was a BIT slippy on the portion where you were jerking, so choose a different one next time...DWAYNE DIBLEY!!!!!

Ross_Harkins said: Yeah all that bollox with Craig n Alec really does my head in particularly when trying to focus on your sets, nice work tonite I only saw the benching and looked solid mate, you'll bouce back with the squats, your a natural at it so all good. I find Craig's shouting encouraging now as it relates to the lift at hand. But "Hey you guys, looking good" etc is not too conducive to good reps. If the weights are lower I don't mind at all as I can cope a lot easier. When the weights get heavy though, I'd like the chance to do them without the sideshow. Your squats were nice and deep tonight bud.

Moved to triples for squats today and it didn't feel too nice as my abs were still dead from the old dragon flags on Sunday. SQUATS 5@157.5 raw, 1@172.5 as a bridge, 4x3@182.5, 1x2 + a failed third rep @ 185 Awec was shouting all his nonsense on my last set and although I managed to blank it out, I was taking a lot longer between reps to steady myself. I know the strength is there though, so not too bothered. BENCH 4x6@115, 1x6@117.5, 1x5@120 - I'm calling that a new pb for a bench session with the 6s. To equal my past pb it would have been 5x6@115 + 1x6@117.5, so deliberately wanted to do a bit better this time round. On to triples on bench next week. R.I.P. to my dragon chain - I broke it when squatting. Increased neck size makes silver go snap. LOL

Wiegieboard said: You guys who train in commercial places have wills of iron to keep your concentration. No-one f**ks with my chi in the commercial gym. I drop things in there all the time and not been told I can't so far either I prefer it for dumbell work as the range is greater and for core, though for SKWATZ I prefer the PoA and the OATZ that go with it The gym bunnies are a nice way to spend rest periods between sets mate

Well, I didn't train on Thursday or Friday because I was lazy and couldn't be bothered. Today was good - everything was feeling as it should again. DEADLIFT Warm ups then 3@180 sumo (could have easily done 4 and maybe even 5 reps) Double at 190 conventional (again easy and could have done 3, maybe 4 reps) BARBELL ROWS 2x10@70, 2x8@80, 2x8@90 - these are definitely getting easier now DUMBELL SHOULDER PRESS 8@22, 2x6@26 then I went away to spot someone and one of the bicep brigade hogged the bench to rest his barbell on. Was gonna go back to do more later, but i DIDN'T HEADSTAND AB FOLDS 3x8 - I'm understanding the breathing technique for this exercise a bit better now DRAGON FLAGS 1x2, 2x5, 1x4+1 negative rep - set one was pretty much warming up. Sets 2 and 3 I was VERY happy with as I've never been able to do more than 3 reps before. Set 4 I was feeling the fatigue from rep 2 onwards, but wanted to try for 5. Next time... CORE HAND WALKS 1x8, 2x6 - all to full extension with 3 second holds between - was showing someone else how to do them on sets 2 and 3 so cut a couple of reps - talking whilst doing them was forcing very tight ab contraction and wore me out a bit quicker than expected. Then went for a swim, and unusually there were young, attractive women in for a change. Pool is normally either empty or full of kids and Moby Slick. I worked on my crawl twist as I felt that would be best for loosening off the core a bit. Time for munching now!!! Looking forward to SKWATZ on Tuesday!

Ross_Harkins said: think I'm going to supplement extra strong espressos before skwat days lol!! Works - Wiege was flying on Tuesday I think he could have got home quicker by running than me giving him a lift. LOL The extra caffeine can be bad on high rep squats, but apart from that I'd say it helps.

likesadeadkf said: Ahh right. Wasnt sure if you were maybe gonna use wraps for it. Unequipped is the best imo anyway. Looking forward to that comp. Be good lifting with you and steel Yeah - wraps in the gym from time to time (very occasionally) but I like to stick to what I know best. It should be a good comp. Be interesting to see who takes part and what the numbers are, as well as what they decide to use for setting records for us to break. LOL

likesadeadkf said:Sounds like a great session Brian! You doing the districts unequipped? I only compete unequipped mate. Lifted in squat suit once in the 75s but couldn't get my chunky legs into it when I moved up to the 82s and the bench shirt didn't work too well for me. Plus I can't fit into that now either, so Andy's got my suit and shirt now.
