Wiegieboard said:Your training is going like an express train man well done. Nice to see the kettlebell work in there too. Gotta love that conditioning.
I always wondered, what do you listen to on that personal stereo of yours when you're lifting?

Cheers dude. Yeh gonna be starting alot more of the kettlebell stuff next week hoping to get a bit fitter. Might o some tommorow aswell. Haha its a mix of stuff really but if its a tough lift im going for im a fan of Slipknot. Just like to listen to music while i excercise.

tryst said:Sweet squatting the other day! That mightve contributed to your sore elbows on the bench, had bother with that before, made light weights feel like a ton on way down. Should clear up no probs after wee rest tho if same thing.

Cheers mate! Certainly sounds similar to what youve had. Felt very weak bringing the bar down but fine pressing it. And i think its the squats that might aggravated them tbh. Hopefully with a bit of rest and some rehab stuff with bands ill be fine for benching on monday. Was meant to be squatting tommorow but will have a go at some front squats instead. Nice bench PB by the way!

Went in today looking forward to doing some bench but my elbows have been bothering me the past few days and had to stop early.

Bench
Bar x a few
60kgs x 5
60kgs x 5
80kgs x 5
100kgs x 1

Stopped there cos my elbows were really giving me quite alot of pain when lowerin the bar with any significant weight. After this i did alot of bicep and hammer curls with a mini band as i seem to remember seeing something similar on Tom Martins log or BigMaccas. Hopefully its just a short term thing.

Was planning on going to the gym to do some conditioning stuff but then a couple of guys came in to deadlift and felt the need to join them.

Barbell complex - Deadlifts, Cleans, Presses, Front squats
Bar x 10 of each
Bar x 10 of each
40kgs x 6 of each
40kgs x 6 of each

Deadlifts
70kgs x 5
110kgs x 5
150kgs x 5
190kgs x 3
210kgs x 3 (Probably a beltless PB)

Didnt do anything too harsh on the deadlifts after squatting yesterday but was surprised at how good they felt. The 210kgs for 3 is probably the most ive deadlifted beltless but i think ill keep with the beltless 3's over the next couple of weeks and mibi put the belt on towards 230/240. After that ill work towards a new max single. Id also initially thought the top two sets were 200kgs and 220kgs but adding up properly found it to be different.

Cheers. Yeh i was hoping id beat you to the 200kg squat but wasnt to be haha. They go up to 70kgs in burns so ill be having a go with them soon i think.

Got in contact with Stuart Murray about Burns gym so went along and worked in with him and another guy for squats. Saw him shift some big weights and make them look easy! Anyway...

Squats
Bar x loads
60kgs x 8
80kgs x 5
100kgs x 5
120kgs x 3
140kgs x 3 (belt on)
160kgs x 1
180kgs x 1
190kgs x 1 - PB
200kgs x F/1

Log
Mini log (45kgs) x 10
60kgs x 5
60kgs x 5
Bigger log (65kgs) x 3
65kgs x 3
65kgs x 3
80kgs x 1 (push press)

Pullups
BW x 5 (wide grip)
BW x 5 (wide grip)
BW x 5 (wide grip)
BW x 5 (wide grip)
BW x 5 (wide grip)
BW x 5 (palms facing narrow grip)
BW x 5 (palms facing narrow grip)
BW x 5 (palms facing narrow grip)
BW x 5 (palms facing narrow grip)
BW x 5 (palms facing narrow grip)

Dumbell Rows
60kgs x 5 (each arm)
60kgs x 5 (each arm)
60kgs x 5 (each arm)

Really good session and fancied playing about with the logs. Squats felt really good so fancied going for a PB. The 190kgs was harder than it should have been as i fell forward a little coming out of the hole and the 200kgs was soooo close. I got stuck at my sticking point for about 3 seconds and then stuart just helped my chest up. Not long until ill get this. Was also good having a go with some heavier dumbells. A good first session there and looking forward to going back.

Haha it was quite a sight. Trained this morning in the councils new gym since the other one i normally train at didnt open til 12 and needed to go early. My ipod ran out of battery before this so i didnt have anything to listen to other than the gyms music. Think it must have been lovesongFM or something cos there was nothing but enrique englaises and other rubbish. Wasnt really up for it, had no chalk and full of the cold but still glad i went in. Really need to get in contact about Burns gym. Anyway...

Deadlifts - Beltless
Bar x a few
70kgs x 10
70kgs x 5
120kgs x 5
170kgs x 3
200kgs x 3

Stiff Legged Deadlifts
120kgs x 5
120kgs x 5
120kgs x 5

Powercleans
70kgs x 5
70kgs x 5
80kgs x 3

Called it a day after this and went home. My hands were really sore after the powercleans which was surprising. Cant wait to get back to Strathclyde for the equipment and training partners.

Went to a gym back home where the equipments not great but at least they have free weights and some decent dumbells. Also made sure i used the bigger cast plates as im sceptical the other 20kg plates actually weigh that...

Bench
Bar x loads
40kgs x 5
40kgs x 10
60kgs x 5
60kgs x 5
80kgs x 5
100kgs x 5
100kgs x 5
100kgs x 5
100kgs x 5
100kgs x 5

Strict press
40kgs x 8
50kgs x 5
60kgs x 5
65kgs x 2(was knackered on these for some reason Confused )
65kgs x 5 (push pressed these ones)

Lat Pulldowns
Full stack x 5
Full stack x 5
Full stack x 5
Full stack x 5
Full stack x 5

Pullups
BW x 3
BW x 3
Bw x 3
BW x 3
BW x 3

Dumbell Rows
Ghettobell x 20 (10 each side)
Ghettobell x 20 (10 each side)

I have no idea what weight the stack was on the pulldowns but felt a bit heavier than strathys full stack. The ghettobell was a big chunky thing that looked like it had been bodged together in someones back garden. Id guess it weighed about 50kgs or more cos it was a bit a fair bit heavier than the 40 but again not really sure. Quite pleased with the the 100kgs for 5x5 but didnt feel up for it at all today for some reason.

Looks good to my untrained eye, but then I don't really know enough about kettlebells to comment Grin

Cheers buddy. Hope you had a good one! My snatches need some work cos it kept smahing off my forearms in a few of them but ill get the technique sorted soon. Today decided to do some conditioning style stuff. Ive not done any cardio of any sort in a long time so not great but im determined to get better.

Started off doing some stuffd with the mini band for shoulder mobility eg various raises, rotator cuff movements and dislocations and then moved onto the kettlebell.

20kg Kettlebell Complex - 3 Sets
15 x Right arm Swings
15 x Left arm Swings
15 x Double arm Swings
15 x Bodyweight squats

I started out thinking i might go for 5 sets but was breathing HARD after these. Will build up to more sets in the coming weeks. I have a whole new respect for Boars kettlebell antics!

Will post the video once its done loading onto youtube.

Got a 20kg kettlebell as part of my christmas so thought id have a go.

20kg KB Swings
5sets x Right arm x 10
5sets x Left arm x 10

20kg KB Snatches
5sets x Right arm x 5
5sets x Left arm x 5

20kg KB Get ups
3 x Right arm
3 x Left arm

First time using a kettle bell but quite enjoyed it. Gets the lungs going when swinging for any significant time. Did the sets of swings one after the other and was messing about mainly so this was roughly what i did. The snatches need a bit of work but were getting gradually better as i went on. At the start i kept smashing it into my forearms on the catch. Video'd some snatches and swings to have a look at techinque. Any comments/advice welcomed as im a noob at this stuff.

Snatches

Swings

Cheers for the advice on the t-shirt buzz. Think the large might have been a little small. Kettlebells a beauty too!
