Strongman A: (olympic background)
max deadlift 340kg
max bench press 190kg
clean and jerk 200+kg
push press 200+kg
Bodyweight : a relatively lean 125kg

Strongman B: (powerlifting background)
max deadlift 420kg
max bench press 230kg
can't clean and jerk for toffee
push press 180kg
Bodyweight: 150-160kg

Different skills but I know who I'd like to be given the choice!

Grin

Strongman B could be Delroy McQueen.. oh but you f**ked up the clean and jerk bit and also he weighs 105kg.

Saying that - either could be! It's a bit of a blanket statement really. Not all powerlifter cant C+J, just like not all oly lifters cant deadlift heavy.

You can have it all!

131kg

BMI 39.11 - but i hope we all know that the BMI is a silly measurement... especially for strength athletes.

Or is that a bad measurement for fat strong people?!?

I'm only around 106 at the minute.

depends what way you want to look at it..

Lol, was only joking. It's a s**te measurement for anyone other than average.

Im in at 34.7....

Do you find the briefs offer a bit extra under the suit? Or do you think a tighter suit would do the same job?

Yeah they kind of help, I think. I only started using briefs aswell in June though.

They give a little more off the bottom, where I am weak. They do make it awkward to lockout sometimes though. I'm not sure if a tighter DL suit would be the answer as I struggle to get to the bar in mine, I'd rather have the suit a little loose around the body/hips and crank the straps down for more pop off the floor.

Where are you located mate - local to preston?

Someone I know may be interested. I shall find out.

I'd have it but I only just get in my old 52 so I think it'd be way too small for me sadly.

Martin

Really?? You must have some very chunky legs! I'm 103kg and fit in my 48 pretty easily... I may even consider trying a 46 at some point., although a 44 was a definite no no.

Yeah, my thighs are over 30 inches. I'm normally around 110kg not 100kg which I lift at.

I wear single ply briefs for deadlifts under so it makes it a tight fit.

They do stretch a fair bit once you have used them.

what does 95 log mean ? for reps in time ?

if i perform well on thursday under the watchfull eye of Dr.JC i'll enter

I think it's a 95kg log for reps in 60 seconds. This is what it was supposed to be in Chorley but because no-one had much chance of getting a rep it was changed for a yoke OH press with around 80kg.

All events are subject to change on the day though so it could be subsituted again.

Lol, it's in our gyms car park...

Jason who is organising it also ran one in Chorley a few weeks back and it was a good day. Light enough for non- strongmen to enter and have a go.

Couple of the lads I train with are doing it (Pete above!)

Martin, get Jon to agree to store the yoke that Ben F is selling in the general forum, then we can all chip in! :-)

It's a bit heavier than the Chorley one though, and no deadlifts! pah

Dude, if JB would agree then I'll pay for it myself! No chance ha ha.

Yeah the weight has gone up a little but its still aimed at those who are beginners in strongman or strong gym goers wanting to have a go for the first time.

I think your right about the PR postcode.

They are good, mine has improved my sleep most of the time.

A big BUT though - they make you roasting. I'm always too hot as it is but in summer it's like being in a sauna lying on that thing.

If casein is low in amino acids what is protein made from??

the amino acids in casein are low in protein.

its like that water with very little hydrogen.

That is a very strange statement to make!

Protein (amino acid links) are low in amino acids?

Casein has a better spectrum of amino's than whey IMO. Whey just has a larger impact on muscle building due to the rapid uptake into the blood stream.

Casein is far better to prevent muscle breakdown everywhere except post workout and far better on a calorie restricted diet (not that that happens often!)

Pizza Hut eat as much as you can buffet helps recovery a fair bit Happy

Light cardio, stretching, light weights, contrast showers or bathing all help too. Food is our medicine though.

Last heavy deadlift around four weeks out, last heavy 90%+ squat three weeks out and at least 7 days rest pre comp for me.

It seems to work, I'm yet to hit a bigger number in the gym than on the platform.
