» Does equipment hold powerlifting back? (Go to post)05-02-2010 @ 12:20
Equipment is good for powerlifting. More weight, more fun. It's never going to be a mass sport lets face it.

I think bad judging holds it back somewhat and all the crap feds that people compete in because they are not good enough to compete in the main feds. This applies to the UK as much as US.

The BPC has had media coverage over the last 18 months a couple of times. It just needs working at.

Only when it gets too close.
» how much do you hate deadlift suits? (Go to post)29-01-2010 @ 15:39
I certainly don't hate them more than I'd hate having a weaker deadlift.

I LOVE KIT YEAH BABY!

Ha ha I wondered how long it'd take before you read this!

I'm working on a clean and press all-in-one suit and overhead press shirt...

You never know I may join the overhead pressers next year!

get head up mate when deading you could of probs pulled that

lol.

Jack - is it the first time in a suit at all?

I find it tends to put you in a weaker position at lockout the tighter the suit straps are. If you don't need the suit so tight to get it off the floor you may be better wearing the straps a little looser.

Lol, I nearly went sumo on my third for a laugh but bottled it in front of the crowd! I'm not sure what I'm better at at the minute really.

Cheers Boar Happy Those log reps of yours were pretty peachy

Just got back and wanted to say thanks to Jeff for putting this on. Everyone went for it as Boar said, and there was plenty of encouragement from other lifters too.

I had a good day - pulled 330kg and took 1st in deadlift being lighter than Karl that also pulled 330kg (he is a very strong man that's for sure)

Was good to meet a few of you guys and a good atmosphere all for a good cause.

I am already an outcast - I doubt wearing a 15ply squat suit, taking 5 minutes to get to the bar and pulling sumo will help my social position!

Allan - yeah you knew already don't lie Happy Nope it's still PL'ing for me for the forseeable future I'm afraid but you never know. The under 105's would be tempting though

Ha ha as I thought.

I have been thinking of changing over to sumo so havent done any conventional pulls since November. Not quite got the technique yet though.

I'll do it real man style, just be prepared to watch 3 failed attempts if I'm unlucky!

Would it be too homosexual to pull sumo tomorrow?
» Darren Sadler (Go to post)19-01-2010 @ 11:35
Special protein that is!

I agree, Sadler did look in good shape. He's just too small in build sadly I think. He's probably our best athlete, just could do with being a foot taller and another 3-4 stone of him.

Good on him though, maybe there is more to come from him in the future. If only they would lower the loading heights on the stones!

Good point.

A proper safety bar is good - I have one. I prefer it for very heavy good mornings and occasionally squats or lunges.

I bought it when I had shoulder problems and it was a god send.

The only problem with the Watson bar is that it bends under heavy loads quite alot and is whippy over around 250-300kg.
