well i got my farmers today, and damn i was very surprized at how hard they are! i went straight for 100 kg in each hand and barely got to 7 metres lol...damnn hard s**t. Im just going to do them once per week and see if i can work up to 120 kg per hand

Whats a superman row, chest supported? out of interest do you do much work on triceps and rear delts outside of your usual bench sets etc? same on squats do you just rely on squating heavy every week to up your weights or do stuff like front squats aswell? just wondering as ive noticed since i dumped the front squats for an extra 4 sets of speed back squats with bands my squat has improved lots.

hmm, so basically ive got to really keep my weight in check to stick to that class! which suits me and i hate being over 100 kg anyway makes me feel really unfit and lethargic, but then again i do very little cardio so thats maybe why.. got some farmers walk handles coming tomoz so that should be fun cardio!

What weight category would you want to compete in and your bench press would be daft in a shirt, maybe 220kg depending on the shirt and a rage x is a good shirt to go for I would say anyways.

hmm not too sure i dont even know what weight class there is? is there a 100 kg class or does it go 90 kg then 110 kg? im around 101-102 kg in the morning, and im prity podgy so ideally if there is a 100 kg class i would shed some lbs to get into that.. 220 kg bench would be awesome problem is i do most of my bench work at home, and i think you need a couple of spotters and people to help you get the shirt on. However id probably rope a few friends into it. i think i can do 190 kg raw touch and go at the moment but thursday will be the test. I did a deload day for triceps today just kept things light with high reps but at the start i did go to 160 kg on close grip bench with a pause and the weight literally flew up felt good for 4-5 reps... so should be strong on thursday!

good4gains said:A good PB and are you thinking of competing or is it all for self satisfaction?

good question, at the moment its for self satisfaction however i aim to compete some time this year. I just need to find the confidence to get up and do it. Not sure which fed, or whether i want to compete equiped or raw. I dont have any powerlifting suits as yet so maybe raw to begin with as the bloody things cost a bomb, and i dont fancy outgrowing them once i buy them Eek

good4gains said:That is some very strong bench press and if you did your high rep sets last and done all your heavy sets first, wouldn't the out come be even better?

yeah man, usually i would say heavy sets first however i went into the workout with the goal of 145 x 10 at least so just wanted to nail that. next week im going to move onto heavy triples or maybe max out at 190.. i also need to do some pause reps soon as im struggleing to tocuh my chest - im insanely unflexible in my shoulders-
might introduce some dynamic work aswell not sure though.
» Bent f'ing olympic bar (Go to post)17-06-2010 @ 23:38
ive fixed a few of mine at work, doesnt take long to do literally 5 minutes however they will charge like 30 quid as they have to break the machine down and change the fitting etc which is a pain, problem is once bent, and fixed it doesnt usually take long for them to become bent again.

All that I do is use a belt on my last set and also work abs too afterwards.

good4gains said:I'm sure 10 will be in the bag on a good day. To strengthen your core you could lift without a belt, weighted sit ups, roman chair and even a weighted ab machine, there are a few different types. I personally like the weighted ab machines as they don't effect my lower back like the weighted sit ups and roman chair.

yup i used to train all the time without a belt in fact at one stage i gained no carry over from using a belt, however after i had that back injury a couple of months ago i remember trying to walk backwards with a bar doing squats and my core felt so unsteady. after that ive used a belt, and because of this i don't think my core strength has had a chance to be worked suffciently to bring it back to the strength it was 3-4 months ago. I think i might start doing 3-4 medium weight sets on squats before i put the belt on to slowly bring it on

EDCLARKE said:what training for you're core are you going to be doing? I have the same problem
I've been hammering the weighted situps but could do with some variety.

Hi mate, ive never ever trained my core i dont think ive done a sit up in 5 years! when i went through the ''i want abs for the girls stage''... im going to start doing some though. I was thinking heavy leg raises, or theres that excercise that the guy called misha does who competes in WSM. He graps a light barbell lies down on the floor in a bench press position with the bar above his chest then he does a sit up whilst keeping the bar infront of him! looks incredibly touch. I might do some heavy side bends aswell.

thanks mate, i wanted 10 really, theres sooo many strong deadlifters on here!
the PT at my gym tested my core strengh today and came to the conclusion that he has no idea how i can squat and deadlift as much as i do because i have the weakest core hes ever seen!! so he saus if i start training my core and strengthen it my lifts will go up alot.. i could barely hold a sit up half way up for 5 seconds lol..
