Post Edited: 27.06.2010 @ 22:43 PM by granty Nipped the gym after the game today, chest still a little tender from the strain i picked up on my 190 kg max attempt day so the idea was to just train for a pump then do a little biceps and triceps.. when i got there couldnt resist going to 140 kg on close grip just worked on technique i think paused it for 7 reps without my sleeves which are now to tight.. will have to visit strength shop lol.. then i did some cable work on the guns and got an awesome pump and generally felt good.I forgot how nice it can feel training arms and posing in the mirrors ha. | |||

Yeah thanks, my lifts are ok. I just kind of feel like i want to hit certain numbers in the big three lifts like 300 kg raw dead, and 200 k bench and 280 raw squat then i will feel confident about being more competitive in strongman.. In all honesty i was tempted more by the strongman stuff a while back, and i purchased a log had some farmers made etc, then when it came to using them i was like ''holy s**t this is hard'', and they wern't contributing to my actual strength on conventual lifts. For example my max log press went up 5 kg but nothing was carried over to my strict militery so really my technique had just improved i hadnt actually got any stronger... wheras if i had focused on my strict militery for those 5 weeks i would of probs put some extra lbs onto it (so got stronger). I think i will stick to getting stronger from just foucsing on 3 lifts that will give me a decent amount of all round strength rather than throwing barrels and walking with yokes that will give lots functional strength but imo not get you stronger as quickly as doing just deadlifts and squats.. also running with yokes and farmers walks are damned hard! Don't think i got my point over too well as to why im more focused on powerlifitng but in a nut shell I find strongman stuff much harder than powerlifting moves but get stonger quicker doing the powerlifting stuff. Btw i hope i dont put any storngmens nose out of joint here, much respect to them its a tough sport. | |||

Thanks, ive taken a look at the list of banned substances and i would'nt be able to enter the others. I havent used anything hardcore but still it would have to be the BPC as theres stuff on the list i have taken, In all honestly im not fussed i just want somthing to work up to to keep me wanting to lift hard, even if i don't have a chance of doing fantastic. So the next step is pay for the membership then keep an eye out for the upcoming comps on there website? sorry for sounding such a noob or nob lol! | |||

Just lately my motivation has been prity poor, and i think the best way to get it back is to enter a comp to give me somthing to work towards. Im very undecided at the moment as to what i want to do. I think powerlifting is a good start as i probably don't have enough strength to do strongman and dont have much stuff to practise with.. So after some googleing im thinking about joining the BPC fed, i dont really understand how it works though.. if i join does this mean i can enter any comp in the schedule other than the chapionships etc? for example would i just be able to enter qualifiers etc if i pay the comp fee? or am i thinking about the wrong federation should i be looking at another.. is it easy to enter comps etc? sorry for s many questions im just comfused as hell! | |||

Post Edited: 26.06.2010 @ 00:17 AM by granty 26/6/10 legssquats 60 kg x 10 100 kg x 1 140 kg x 1 190 kg x 1 flew.. knew i was going to get a good sess after this 185 kg x 10 pb with wraps and belt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqbnSXOap6M 200 kg x 1 ATG 220 KG x 1 ATG front squats 100kg x 3 120kg x 3 130 kg x 3 140 kg x 3 160 kg x 1 175 kg x 1 pb very easy, but depth was questionable Nice workout today, use dorien Yates pre workout NOS supplement and felt good on it.. theres not as much caffine in it, but i had decent focus and it rivals superpump. i am happy with 407 x 10 on the squat.. seems a life time ago that i could only squat 400 lbs for 1, 13 months ago! first time doing front squats in over 4 months and after the warmup sets feeling heavy i got into the grove and 175 felt soooo good and light, even if the depth might of been a tad high. 180 KG is there there wont be any chest or shoulder excercises for a week or so when i woke up i couldnt even cross my arms the pain is around 5/10. | |||

was going for 190 kg on bench today however upon warming up with 100 kg when i racked the bar after the 10th rep i felt a strain.. its kind of where the chest connects to the shoulder round by the arm pit. Doesnt hurt majorly infact i was stupid and still went up to 160 kg and paunsed it on my chest for a few seconds, but im going to lay off all benching for a while to let it heal | |||

Cheers push press has always been a weaker excericse for me, but i seemed to have progresed nicely on them even though i hadnt really done them in 6 months.. i think i seem to burn out quickly though it looked like up to rep 8 they were easy then boom on rep 10 really heavy. Maybe i need better condtioning, when you feel out of breath the mind can play tricks on you and make you feel like somthing is harder than it really is, thus putting you off | |||

23/6/10 back deadlifts 60 kg x 6 100 kg x 1 140 kg x 1 180 kg x 1 210 kg x 1 230 kg x 1 260 kg x 2 speed reps 180 kg x 3 180 kg x 3 180 kg x 3 180 kg x 3 180 kg x 3 180 kg x 3 set 3 was the fastest kept the hips high which seemed to give me more power and speed off the floor wide grip lat pull downs 1 x 15 1 x 10 1 x 6 seated strict rows 1 x 10 1 x 8 1 x 6 straight arm push downs 3 x 10 not bad sure i had another rep on 260 kg even though the speed looks slow.. im always slow on heavy weights.. im starting to think its people i start with my hips to low. When i kept the hips high on the speed reps with 180 i literally felt i got enough speed to power clean the weight! well maybe not, but it was very fast reps | |||

22/6/10 shoulders 60 kg x 10 strict press 70 kg x 3 80 kg x 3 strcit 90 kg x 1 push press 102.5 kg x 10 push press PB! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7AWWxuE1Ak 90 kg x 5 strict press pb 100 kg x 1 strict press. upright rows 60 kg x 10/10/10 lat raises 30 s with 4 kg dumbells 3 sets pleased with the pb, but motivation is terrible... i just cant be bothered feel really lethargic, and just dont want to be in the gym not sure why im feeling like this, its annoying as hell! | |||

yeah i think you need a good amount of core, leg and calf strengh aswell as grip, I will get there i just have to sus out the technique.. also i need stronger calfs and core! |
