thatll be it. I guess the only solution to that is to just keep practising outside till I get used to it?

ill try that neil cheers. olly not sure what you mean I look straight up after ive got the log cleaned?

lol I dont know, clean feels normal but as soon as ive got it racked on my chest I feel unbalanced. and when I go for the press I keep throwing it to far forward. ive done log press in outside comps 3 times and every time ive had big problems balancing.

JC, Neil - aye you may well be right. im going to stick with training it outside though as it closer to comp conditions. whether its in my head or not hopefully ill be able to work it out before the englands.

tony - steal away mate! that is a 2.5" bar that I dont use anymore though and its got tacky and s**t all over it so might be worth just getting a scaffold pole to do the job. also make sure you get a decent cushioning system to to drop the stone on. ive had alot of flying/bouncing stone accidents!

wish i could do 10 reps like that Will, good going buddy

cheers dude. I take it you mean on the chins?

Training today:

Log clean + press (1st rep clean):

80kg x 3
90kg x 2
100kg x 1
110kg x 1
110kg x 3 fails Angry
100kg x 2 fails Angry

Stones (to 46"):

110kg x 1
130kg x 1
150kg x 2 fails - went up about 2" Angry
130kg x 1

big wakeup call. im s**t at log pressing outside. even more s**t than I imagined. feels light but I just cant balance the c**t. all log pressing is going to be done outside from now on. getting back to basics with light weights treating 110 as my max.

stones were pretty s**t too. 150 was going nowhere.

cheers neil. in my experience with this injury power cleans do tend to help for some reason. the worst pain is from deadlifts and overhead. log press doesnt seem to affect it much though. the barn would be good to train in but at the moment its much more convenient to have my gym stuff, log and stones at home so I can train whenever.

JC - that would be fun if I were finnish! just trying to work the grip and conditioning without hammering the back too much with a heavy pickup and carry.

Training today:

Farmers walk (27.5m course):

70kg for 55m
100kg for 55m - 34secs

Power cleans:

60kg x 3
70kg x 3
80kg x 2
90kg x 1
100kg x 1
105kg x 2 PB

Stiff-leg deadlift (touch + go):

100kg 3 x 10

2 Hand pinch holds (2x 20kg plates):

40kg for 20secs

pretty good session. back still not right so no yoke today and not too heavy on the farmers. speed felt pretty good after a slow pickup. power cleans felt a little off but still managed a pb so im happy with that too. did the sldl to try and stretch out my back a bit and it did seem to help.

100kg x 2
110kg x 1

Chins:

BW x 10

2 Hand Pinch holds (2x 20kg plates):

If you have axle in an SM comp, you should not be allowed to jerk it IMO
