BNSF Southern Qualifier 21

build up on this was less than ideal but really wanted to get a comp on the board after missing last season. disc went a few weeks ago so havent really gone heavy since. did a triple on the 80 log, a single on 200 dl, one run on 260 yoke, one on the duck and havent done any stones over 80. main goal was to get through still intact and have some fun along the way.

had an absolute mare the last night. got to bed nice and early only to be woken up by a bunch of northern monkeys cranking up a party in the room next door at 1.30am. despite the staff ineffectually knocking on their door asking them to keep it down the party continued until about 3am. worst nights sleep for a long time but just tried to move on and not let it affect me.

weighed in at just under 75kg fully clothed and after a full english lol. guessing I must have been something around 73kg first thing!

Log Press 80kg in 75secs

thought this was 60secs so my target was 8 but it was 75secs so readjusted to 9. knew my strength was on point but conditioning was a question. was fine though and hit my target for a share of first place. good start.

Deadlift 200kg in 75secs

I think this is possibly the first time I have ever tried a tactical move in competition. went up 2nd to last so watched what everyone did. my target was 5 or 6 and at that point 5 and 6 were last and 2nd last. decided that breaking my balls for an extra 0.5 was probably not worth it so just did a rep for the point and to stay fresh. retrospectively think this was a good call.

Yoke 260kg for 20m

first mistake here. yoke was wide and had a little wobble so didnt go all out to get a clean run. as it turned out it was comfortable and after my run I felt like I didnt put in enough to it. turned out right as everyone else turned it on and came dead last. feel like speed is a weakness. generally im better with a heavier yoke.

Duck Walk 160kg for 16m

massive schoolboy error here. ref said 3 2 1 [somethingunintellibleinbristollian] and instead of just going I just looked quizzically at him until I realised it was a signal to go lol. still managed 4th, not that far behind 3rd and second so I think I blew some good points here. never to old to f**k things up!

Stones 110kg to 50"

had to make good here as I was in last place with 10.5pts. the three in front had 12 and top two were way ahead so my only hope of top three was to win or come second. did 6 and missed a 7th which was only good for a share of 3rd so ended up what should have been 4th. however, the scores were mucked up so wasnt declared so but im sure that is where I should have finished so im hoping it can be rectified.

anyway, did get through intact, having had good fun so mission achieved. 14 years in the game!

final prediction:

1) Tom
2) Shaw
3) Janashia

most confident on the top two. I think third will be a battle and points will be tight all the way down the field.

so is the 'train push' they switched out for the train pull in the quals the same as the turntable or something different?

do we have details on the giants medley and the turntable?

I tend to think this is due to the events. I had him pegged to win the group on that basis.

we will see where his form really is when he is amongst the top ten I reckon.

awesome to see the bishman back in the final.

Group 4 on spreadsheet. Anyone know how Bish vs Pritchett stone off may go? I don't think they can catch Janashia now unless he's a no lift.

in a run I think bish could do it. hes been lifting some heavy stones in training.
