Not necessarily what you'd call the archetypal "bro",. That Lerch guy was pretty good - he had 3 reps disallowed.

I did a 6:53 at 6' 7" and 102kg, aged 30. I was more suprised by the 6000m times. I did 23:50 which would put me in the top 30, but the first place is 19:52. Three consecutive 6' 50s. Ouch.
» CoC 2 (Go to post) | 07-12-2010 @ 14:22
Some people find it a lot easier to set the CoC with 2 hands and then squeeze with one. I found it easier to have a bit of a "run-up" and squeeze with the levers further apart. Big hands helps as well.

That latest mix reminded a bit of the Wiggle Fabric mix CD on Nytol. In a good way. ![]()

As a southern fairy through and through, one thing I do miss from my heady days in Manchester is chicken and shish kebabs (From Caspian’s, Lal Qila et al.) served in naan bread, not poxy pita. Who the f*** would take pita over naan??

» Racist Muslim ppl,, (Go to post) | 12-11-2010 @ 10:50
I believe the "every terrorist is a muslim quote" was attributed to Abdel Rahman Al-Rashed of Al-Arabiya News who said "not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims". To which there is a certain truth, I suppose.

That was a genuinely funny picture to juxtapose. I'm not a big Austin fan especially his go-to "humour" of 'You have a small penis and your wife is ugly', but that was really funny.

People pressing is a good craic and strength indicator. At family holidays, Christmas etc. each year as people/kids get bigger, so must your beered up strength.
» tyres...............where the hell do I get them from?? (Go to post) | 26-10-2010 @ 10:24
What you need to do is google/look in the yellow pages for commercial tyres. If you go to a commercial tyre depot most will let you have whatever you want in terms of old tyres: Tractor/lorry/earth mover. However, be warned that you will have to move it yourself (try lifting a 300kg tyre into the back of anything!!) and whatever you take you WILL NOT be able to "give back" to them when your wife/girlfriend decides that a 5 foot high, 3 foot thick tyre does not fit the design aesthetic of the garden.

My gym is subject to two types of audio assault. A strange pop-cum-indie blended mix tape that segues the Ting Tings 'That's Not My Name' to Kings Of Leon's 'Sex On Fire' into Pink 'Just Like A Pill' et al. This followed in short order by another "progessive" mix of N-Sync type s**tola into Eurodance cheese into N-Dubz. Nice. To put this into some perspective, there are only about 3 female members in the gym and most of the blokes seem to either be chavs, cops or robbers. Luckily, they have taken to not playing anything recently which is a welcome respite.
» More good stuff from Jim Wendler (Go to post) | 03-09-2010 @ 11:24
It doesn't really sound like his normal writing style - when I first read it, I thought someone else had written it. As to being a chubster, I think he noted in his log a few weeks back that he was at around 9% body fat. Not into racing snake territory, but by no means a fatty. The things to remember about Wendler are that he is a ballbreaker and that has changed his style and philosophy on lifting significantly over the last 4 years. I am sure he would be the first to admit that he does not have all the answers and I bet a pound to a pinch of salt that he would defer to Mark Rippetoe et al. on just about anything. But as far as a general philosophy on lifting, diet and fitness, he ain't too far from the top of the pile - kids could do worse than follow his lead. |
