Saturday 18th September. East Midlands Masters.

Weighed in at 116.1kg (long story).
The day went like this.
Target is the 447.5 British QT.
Warm up room was very warm & busy!

Squats Warm up.
5 x 20
5 x 70
2 x 100
1 x 120
1 x 140
Platform.
150 3 whites.
160 3 whites.
Did not take a third.
160 was enough, could have probably squeezed out a few kilos more.

Bench Warm up.
15 x 20
5 x 70
3 x 90
1 x 100
Platform.
110 3 whites.
115 3 whites.
Did not take a third.
I had wanted a 120 3rd but the 115 did not feel good so left it there.

Deadlift Warm up.
5 x 120
2 x 140
1 x 160
Platform.
172.5 3 whites.
185 3 whites.
192.5 3 whites.
The 172.5 gave me the QT and the other two lifts were just for fun, ended with 467.5!
Lifting without chalk and the 185 had been slipping out of my grasp so stayed away from 200. Grin Grin Grin

You'd be surprised at what goes on behind the scenes chaps, although it has to be said that 99% of British Powerlifting's membership just want to lift and don't care too much about WADA protocols, governing body status, British team selection & coaching, training programs for both athletes and officials, sponsorship, etc, etc, etc. Plus there is always that vocal 0.1% who believe that everything should be run differently!
However these are exciting times for British Powerlifting.

Monday 13th September.

Last session before competing at the EM Masters next Saturday where the object will simply be to obtain the Masters QT for 2022 (447.5Kg).

Weighed in at 118.0Kg.

Squat.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 60
4 x 80
3 x 100
2 x 120
1 x 135
1 x 150
2 x 130
150 will be my opener on Saturday.

Bench.
2 x 10 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 100
1 x 110 Under command.
1 x 117.5 Under command.
3 x 100
2 x 5 x 90 Close Grip.
110 will be my opener on Saturday.

Deadlift.
5 x 70
4 x 110
3 x 130
2 x 150
1 x 170
1 x 180
180 will be my opener on Saturday.

So tonight was a quick run through 150/117.5/180 to the 447.5 QT.

Not been training much in the past week or so, work is getting busy again.

Have been doing a few squats up to 150 and bench to 120 but no deadlifts.

Supposed to be competing this Saturday (18th September) but will only probably take enough lifts to hit next years qualifying total (447.5Kg for a man of my age and size).

Incidentally, on Sunday i was voted in as the new chairman of British Powerlifting, replacing Fred Sterry who sadly passed away earlier this year - big boots to fill!

Understand completely where your coming from Pete, it's a very rare occasion when a live track matches up to the recorded version. That said, some artists really do know how to put on a good show.

Saw Meatloaf at the NEC in November 94 - Basically Bat out of Hell 1&2. Brilliant.

Saw Springsteen at Les Vieilles Charrues in 2009 - 15 minutes of a 3 hour set were good, the rest boring, support band that day were the Killers who were absolutely brilliant.

5 x 70
4 x 90
3 x 110
2 x 125

1 x 152.5
No problems.

Bench.
2 x 10 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 100
1 x 110
1 x 120 Running total 272.5.
3 x 100
No problems.

Deadlift.
5 x 70
4 x 110

Everything went as expected up to the 175 deadlift. All completed in just over 60 minutes. After that though the evening fell apart, couldn't budge what should have been a comfortable 190.
