Actually, I've always been the worst person in the world for warming up, but 5 minutes rolling, stretching the hips a bit and doing a circuit (press ups, chins, overhead squats and ab rollouts) seems to make a difference. And it has only taken me twenty years of training to realise thatGrin

Benching and squatting for a change.

Bench 95/1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3 nice and solid

squat 125/1 This felt heavy for some reason, so I stopped. I'm trying to avoid grinding anything out for the minute, given that I'm squatting 3 times a week. I did a very short warm up compared to what I've been doing for the last couple of weeks, so maybe that made the difference.

I started working on the 100 burpee challenge a while ago, but dropping into a pres up hurts my shoulders something rotten so I binned it. Maybe I'll have a go, but climbing gently down into the press up position as befits a man of my advancing yearsGrin

Yet more benching and squatting today. Felt ok, but not nothing special, so I'm quite pleased with the session really.

Bench 90/1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3 on the last set I probably could have pushed for 5 or 6. Nothing brilliant, even for me, but heading in the right direction.

Squat 120/1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3 As above, 5 or 6 were they on the last set. All of these were sunk nice and deep as well.

I was going to have a pop at 70 kilos for 50 to finish, but to reward myself, I stopped at 20Happy

I think I'll nail more than 140 on the squat. I'd really want over 160. I don't think I'll be able to get the bench back to 130 that soon though. Probably 110-115 seems more likely. Last time smolov junior put about 10 kilos on my bench in about three weeks, so that might be an option nearer the time. Depends how much I needHappy

More squats and bench today, although judging by bench performance, last year's 11 reps at 100 is some distance awayUnhappy

I reckon if all goes really well, something like 270 would be doable by the 19th Dec. Just a shame that all never goes really wellGrin
I'll keep plugging away. I'm thinking of testing maxes in mid-October or so, so we'll see where things are. Of course, the arrival of baby number three will probably f**k up those plans in a couple of weeks, but in a good wayHappy

In my quest to ground Ed into dust and show him just what lanky really means, I did some benching and squatting today.

Ed, you must be quaking in your bootsHappy It is frightening how much strength I've mlost on the bench. 85 kilos felt heavy. I would have struggled to get a rep with 100 today. Still, as a great philosopher once said:

No problems for the updates. I'll let you know as the total (hopefully) creeps up. I'm off to squat and bench in a minute and the aim is to do a few sets with 85/110. I'm thinking of working up in ladders (do a single, a double and a triple). when I can get 3, I'll add some weight.
As for the lunacy, you know it makes senseGrin Seriously, I don't think I'm ever going to be squatting 300, but I reckon I could do 100 for 50 with my chicken legs.
