"quite ripped" Grin

actually most ripped than ever, now it would be nice to do a 10kg clean bulk Happy

its snuck up on me really, was f**king suprised.

looking forward to it man Happy

Yesterdays training was cancelled due to extra work at the warehouse, then again, did need to move like zillion kg of stuff around, GRAFT!

Today had a go at the highland games events. Competition is tomorrow, its a team comp, and we have a strongman team, plus one strong bodybuilder and one shot putter.

Events are deceptively hard, light weights but a lot of work, like farmers is for 200 metres.

9 events in total, each team member sits out couple events, so should be nailing 7 events tomorrow.

farmers
log drag race
stone lifting (70, 90, 110 to pretty high platform, not strongman stones, but these really small dense ones)
weight for height
sack toss
stone put
hammer throw
barrel roll
caber toss

my favourites were log drag and weight for height, love them.

farmers should be ok, or i should be shot in shame

caber toss is f**king impossible, so technical and difficult. Could toss the wee one, but the medium one didnt even get close.

lets see tomorrow Happy

full report to follow!

probably just lack of possibilities to organise it earlier, dont think they think about anything else.

but its a free to view show so doubt they care how many people are there, as long as they can make it look good on tv.

if it is in europe this year i would love to try to go!!!

EDCLARKE said:do you think introductory strongman days in as many different gyms as possible would work as a marketing strategy? I'm guessing your target market is going to be people who like to lift heavy or compete in strength sports.

its a funny thing, our sport is so small that people will quickly learn about you even if you did not do all that much marketing, thats the serious edge of the sport. But that is much much smaller here than in UK, though hopefully growing. Its the casual trainers and users which are hard to reach and find, and google is the master there isnt it.

But thats a nice idea, something i would love to do, but also time consuming and fairly pricey with all the travelling. But cheers for the idea, i think i know a guy who i could do it with and it could work out...

almost forgot my mondays wee session with Buzzman visiting!

Squats as a warm up to 125 - knee is a bit funny, not too keen on going heavier with the squats just now

tried barbell push pressing, but its suboptimal for my wrist, went to 3x90 and decided to go to the log

in log just up to 3x95

then some strict logging, cant remember but not heavy. More akin of shoulders like boulders pump styleee.

then quarter dips for triceps and curls for biceps, beach season is here!

EDCLARKE said:good to hear you're settled in in Germany, It'll be interesting to read how you go about building the strength shop empire in Europe.

Have you a plan for getting the word out there?

many Plans Grin just a combination of things really, main is word of mouth which come from personal contact and happy customers. Aim to send every order the following day etc, and thats quick in german context, everything takes ages here! (the myth about the efficiency is bulls**t).

Then some online advertising here and there, and doing stalls at comps etc, thats all really. Not a big budget to be spending on advertising and promotions, someone always has to pay for that so rather just keep prices lower.

So in all, its a slow process Happy not an overnight job this!

in it for a longer haul...

Popped to The Showroom for a quick one as i put some deliveries together there.

Deadlift
3x120
1x120
1x170
1x200
1x200
1x200

bentover barbell rows
8x70
8x100
8x120
8x120
8x120

curls x 2

f**king weak with deads now.

a shadow of former self Fazc, which in itself was a shadow of something ... Grin

cheers millsyman! I was happy with 85 at this stage, more power from squatting and new PB will fall!

BW is about 103 i think, no comps in near future so not too fussed about it.

Have opens comp near berlin in september though, and another potential in basel but not sure what i am allowed to enter and what not. So lets see.

But i definitely need a comp to keep my training focused.

Start of the shop has been ok, though hard work to get the word out there! Vast majority of folk in germany or other european countries just dont know about us, so that takes a lot of work to sort out.
