I always thought torn muscles brought up bruising but hes not had any. anyone know if its possible to tear a muscle with no bruising?

Yes. Even a fairly significant tear can cause a haematoma within the muscle which does not cause skin discoloration.

In the more acute cases, this strain may give rise to a rupture of the capillaries and bleeding in the muscle.

Oh knock it off, the vast majority of GPs don't earn that much (£60k is the usual going rate before target-related pay comes in). Sports medicine isn't on medical school curriculums because it's a relatively new speciality and doesn't really warrant space when compared to the other stuff doctors need to know. I had to take a year out from medical school to do a BSc in sports medicine because there was no other way I could do it - there is literally nothing in the course even close to it.
