Mclovin, to go private would require an amount of money that I do not have.

I do enjoy the bit where my facial aesthetics were giveth to make up for the taken awayeth disc juices.

One notable thing is though, that this issue has been such for my entire competitive powerlifting career. So I think my 2 options are basically keep doing what I have been doing, painfully lifting and progressing with my flaccid spine until I kill myself in my 30s or give up lifting (by lifting I mean proper lifting) now and have a fairly pain free albeit miserable time until I find something as enjoyable as picking up heavy things.

It's kind of like a crack addiction

What did the doctor lady say, in between copping a feel of your glutes? Did she advise against heavy lifting?

If so, I would take the advice, lifting is awesome but not worth ending up Stephen Hawking-ized over.

Perhaps becoming a master of bodyweight stuff could plug the void if you did have to leave the barbells alone?

I have made the decision to start training to be an aesthetic raver with slightly stronger than average finger extensors.

I checked with the powers that be, you can train this in the gym.

Before you give up all hope there are several Powerlifters who have a squashed disc. Good recovery.

Unless they are bench only, it's not that sensible or forward thinking.

Will your new follicular aesthetics balance the back pain with joey goodness feels?

no amount of lifting and relative swoleness is worth a squashed dried up disc - that's some serious s**t right there (which I know you know)

The rest of your life needs to be lived in good health so changes need to be made or it may even get worse

@Jack I had to google(translate) squashed disc first, i thought of a hernia.
A friend of mine had the injury back 10 years ago, when he was the same age, he cut and still cuts most movements that involve compression. Also he is unable to squat more than 80kg. He is still more jacked than 100% in the gym.
Still good luck.

Terrible news, I hope you manage to find something that you enjoy and are just as passionate about as powerlifting. There's a lot of fun stuff out there to do....
