Go docs/physio and get it diagnosed and correct treatment given. No point covering it up with warm ups and risk causing more damage

You say you have s**t flexibility. It's a radical thought but why don't you stretch

I'm actually going through a similar thing with my left shoulder. I've been to a Sports Medicine Doctor and a physio. Apparently there is nothing wrong with my shoulder - my problem is flexibility and imbalance.

I am working on improving flexibility in my back and lats. I have to increase my rowing exercises and build up my upper back. Bench pressing is out for the moment. Overhead work is allowed, if it is pain free.

My tech on squats has been exacerbating the issue. My poor flexibility has meant I am squatting all out of shape. You should be able to pinch your shoulder blades together when squatting whilst keeping your chest up and out and elbows forward.

I found out today that my being unable to front squat Oly style is due to poor flexibility in my LATS - wtf!! I thought my wrists were the problem Confused

Go to a good sports physio in your area.

nice one streak

im exactly the same with squats, back squats it takes me a few sets to get the bar sitin right and with front squats i cross my hands,no chance of me doing oly style grip the bar wont sit accross my shoulders.the same when i do push presses,i have to hold the weight in my arms so when i push press im not getting full drive from my legs
im going to have to make an effort to stretch

Owen, my left shoulder has been f**ked for a good few years now...fingers crossed though, it's hopefully improving

I now do lots of upper back work...I have neglected this in the past and feel its contributed to my poor shoulder health

I also do lots of stretching with bands before pressing these days

Supplemented to this, I also try to do 30mins of shoulder rehab at the gym (along with my upper back work) each week

Stuff like OH shrugs with an empty bar, internal/external rotations with a very (very) light dumbell, DB Cuban rotations & DB protractions

Have a look here mate:

A physio told me internal/external rotations, pec stretches, shoulder dislocates, facepulls rear delt and back work or some mixture of the above are pretty much essential to shoulder health (especially if you bench, but relevant to everyone really)

There's no excuse not to do half of them. I stretch pecs on a doorframe every night while I'm brushing my teeth (what else is there to do while you're stood there for a couple of minutes?!), and if you have like a 3-5kg dumbbell sitting around at home you can do internal rotations while lying on the sofa!

Definitely see a physio
