i think your right alan, i had a good sesh sun tue i was due a s**t one! defo gonnae work on the holds for grip strength

I thought your grip seemed decent mate.

Holds should help, but then, my holds are s**t, but mixed grip on deads is good for a lot more than I can actually lift.

Tested it out on heavy rack pulls from about knee height. Think they help me anyway, as i get used to holding more weight than I can lift from the floor.

cheers neil, my grips pish in my right hand davy i broke it a few year back and i never noticed anything to it until i started lifting heavy then i realised it was s**te! f**k knows how i done well at the farmers hold in that comp we competed in? it must have been a flukeGrin

Ha ha, my s**t performance in the hold was not a fluke, managed to add about 10 sec to it for my next comp, but it was still comparatively s**t.

Go see the doc about your hand, if it was caused by a break they might be able to do something about it

DEADLIFT

240kg x 1 (belt on)
280kg x 1 (felt comfy)
290kg x F (missed it by a baw hair just couldnt lock the hips out.im confident 300 will fall by feb)

AXLE CLEAN & PRESS
55kg x 5
75kg x 5
85kg x 5
85kg x 5
then i tried some continental cleans failed the lot of them!!!

BENCH
100kg x 5
140kg x 5
100kg x 15

LOG
60kg x 5
80kg x 2
80kg x 2
80kg x 2 pretty tired at this point no real effort whent in here!

TRAP BAR SHRUGS

mixed bag tonight deads im pretty happy with the 280 wish i missed it tho and whent straight for a PB. axel is something i need to practice big time once i hit 90kg+ i cant clean it?? i know if i can get the continentals working the press shouldnt be a problem.

Nice one on the deadlift, at least it was not your grip that gave out on the 290.

Surprised you cant get the continentals cracked mate, sure it will come.

cheers davy, aye my grip was fine on deads tonight brians got a right good bar to pull with better than the one in my gym. axle my grip was pish! if i can get it up then i think my press is ok. im gonnae work on the continental style.

When you do continentals do you do double overhand or mixed grip?

I need to go mixed and switch a hand over. I find the axle a real struggle to hold on to DOH, but mixed is fine. Can clean and press much the same now.

Learning to like the axle

i tried both tonight failed them both pretty pathetic really as the weight was only 90kg! its all new to me but i hope with practice i learn to love the axle tooGrin

Which part of the lift you struggling with? The second pull?

Just think about lifting it on the the power belly, it should be all good from there.

i can pull it up to the belly no probs its getting to the top of my chist from there! im not dipping under the bar and flipping ma wrist around quick enough! brian said its my flexability thats just a polite way of saying your a big stiff bas***d!!

unlucky with the max dead mate. Once you get over that hurdle id imagine 300kg should fall pretty soon after. Wait 3/4 weeks and get to your max attempt quicker on the day, no probs.

cheers muzzy boy. aye a think your right if ive got a PB in mind i should just jump straight up after 3 warm ups it works on the platform. am pretty confident 300 will come in the new year. time to start hitting the events tho... 300kg 18in for you on thursday at the unit me thinks! am cool tae go if you can take your car? i need tae drop mine doon to my maws thurs so ma da can use it his is no working.

lol we the same, my auld mans car in garage, he sharing mine n sis for work! Thurs shud be sound tho. Started deads routine today, light but mega volume, udve loved it!
