It's pretty simple really

Lift challenging weights with frequency and good form with good mobility and recovery protocols.

Just my observation, not my personal experience but... Get a coach. SO many of the strong people I've known and heard of, train with (or did train with) stronger and more experienced people.

Like someone else said, you can get video coaching online now too -- some of the top people on this site do it (Tom Martin, I think Hixxy might, Loz does, probably others). There are also expensive, world-class powerlifting coaches that do it, like Boris Sheiko and Mike Tuchscherer. If I was really into lifting, and wanted to do well, I'd hire one of those guys in an instant.

Get a hot chic this will increase your hormone level.

Also, be consistant but dont over do it to avoid injury.

There is not absolutes in this, an injury can derail one at any point.

I've actually found doing 3 sets of 8 one week, 5 sets of 5 next week and 3 sets of 3 week after and then a deload and attempt a heavy single seems to work. Repeat this each time slowly increasing the weight of the sets each time.

Some great advice here for novice lifters here like myself, thanks for all the input gents.

Unit94 - this looks solid thanks for writing it up, do you mean sets x reps and small incremental increases each week? Will likely try this out now..

To the guys who have mentioned coaching - really never thought about it as an option but guess it would be a good way to avoid bad habits as a begginer lifter. I train on my own or with another novice power lifter, not seen none at my gym, mostly guys doing the Olympic lifts. Will look into online coaching

Thanks

Look at how you spelt my name and then Look at how my name is spelt.

Also unit would you mind giving us an example of weight? I'm assuming you would keep it the same as the volume increases and then increase it as the volume decreases?

Nice! I like the look of that progression. Roughly what sort of percentages would you use each week, or would you just go by feel? Would you do multiple sessions of the same lift each week at those numbers, or just once a week for each main lift? And any assistance work?

Thanks
