Official: dieting is crazy stuff.

I have been dieting now for couple months and it is coming a real struggle. How can one eat less than 3500 cals? Impossible!

I just had a little breakfast, protein shake, some rice and peas, soya chocolate drink, isotonic drink at the gym, post workout shake, dinner (rice, loads of veg in tahini sauce, tofu) and its only 8pm and i have already nailed over 3000 cals.

And i have been feeling empty the whole day!

Any tips and tricks? how do you manage to diet?

Well if you're going over a certain number you have chosen as your target then just adjust portion size accordingly.

I didn't bother counting calories when I was dieting, just played it by ear and cut out anything remotely s**t - i.e., I wouldn't have had that sauce on the veg, or any ketchup etc. It was anal but it did the job a lot more quickly than doing it half heartedly, like Rick and his 9 year cut.

Also, you did a big session today, so I wouldn't worry about going over 3500 calories - you need to wave the amount of carbs you have throughout the week, I found it worked well for me anyway.

And another one, I know you vegans are fond of your fruit juices, if that was part of your 'little breakfast' you should probably lose it - not ideal for dieting.

Agree with Rob.

Cramming yourself with carbs isn't good either. Ease off the rice.

such high quality expert advice Grin

Rob, i drink about 4dl of fruit juice a day, 100% juice as well so i think its a good addition to the diet, oh and the stuff i put to the shakes so i guess it does amount to 1 litre in total, which is about 450 cals. I could cut it down on the shakes actually.

I am not counting calories, just monitoring my weight loss and at the moment it is pretty much stalled.

Its just amazing how little you can eat if you try to keep the cals at around 3500, been eating big so long i forgot about it at all Grin

bryn, heavyweights is where its at mate, but wife doesnt seem to agree...

Get your weekly total amount in kcal on paper for the last three or four weeks. Start from there, dont eat less but fewer kcal, cut them down lightly, make sure you get the most nutritional value out of each food choice and get carbs where they're most needed like wake up and post work out assuming you dont train right before bed. Be patient, take measurements so as to know where you're going. But carbs are fine!
I found eating numerous meals within the day is utter crap, not popular i know, no rocket science either just my experience. We've got to keep it simple.

I believe you're a vegan, therefeore i'm quite sure you dont eat junk. Shredding fat should come along nicely, i wouldnt like loosing more than 2 or 3kg a month, but thats me.
Personally i eat like i could have eaten 200 years ago.

You're a strongman and with that in mind fact i wouldnt aim at eating less whatsoever, people like us need food plenty of but of good nutritional value.Wink

You shouldnt be thinking about cutting down at all, that strongman stuff needs to be fueled by something no point cutting down unless u want to become weaker
