keep wrecking my hips with low bar squatting so decided to try high bar for a while.

getting conflicting information on elbow position and upper setting for high bar. I thought it was hands close, elbows forward and in with chest up?

opinions please

Ideally yeah, and from what I remember you're a fairly compact lifter so that'd work for you. If you're a little bigger and/or longer limbs you might want to take a wider grip.

The grip width isn't massively important, it's just indicative of what else needs to be going on. That is

1) Tight upper back
2) Elbows mostly under
3) Chest out

However you want to place your hands to accomplish that will depend on your body proportions, flexibility etc etc etc

makes sense

I have a fairly narrow grip when low bar anyway so should be fine close in.

cheers

Some do, I have my hands right next to my shoulders and keep my elbows down.

Some do, most don't.

see this is where the conflicting info is - to me that wide hand posirion with elbows back would lend itself to the chest falling forward at nearer limit weight no?

Yes. Close as comfortable grip and pull elbows under the bar. The torso angle tends to mimic the forearms.

No. At least if your tight where your meant to be. Play about and do what works for you. Though I'd just go elbows under as you have been.
