pec strains?

i was benching earlier today and strained my pec benching 60kg. i felt it go and was waiting for alot of pain because i thought i tore it but it wasnt too bad and its not bruised so i think i just strained it, ive had ice on it for most of the day, is there anything else i can do to quicken up the recovery process? ive got a bench comp in 5 weeks so this really isnt good timing!

Be very careful with it, it could be all too easy to re injure it by rushing back into the weights again. Keep on with the icing and if you feel fit later next week try some really light dumbells to begin with then progress to the bare bar. If the pain continues seek expert advice such as "magic hands" Pascal.

thtas what i was thinking, but i want to bench again next week.....have to see how it feels....i wouldnt mind so much if it happend on 200kg but 60kg!!! how the hell did that happen Confused

You wouldnt see any bruising today if you tore it, it would be over the next few days it starts to develop i would think.

Did you feel/hear a rip? And have a sudden loss of strength?

well its not bruised now but it tender. and there wasnt a loss of strength because i took 60kg again after (probably not the best thing to do) and the bar moved fast but it was painful. i didnt feel it rip but i felt like sudden pain when the bar was on my chest.

Hi mate.I strained my pec about a year back when i was benching 8times a weekEek
Anyways i left the benching alone for two weeks and was fine after thatHappy .

Did u stretch ur chest before?? i did my pec minor a couple of years ago its the bit by the major pec and shoulder righ tin the corner of the arm pit etc i could do f**k all but saw physio and he said it was just built up scar tisses that had slightly teard with my fibres had a msaage and few eeks off was happy as larry

no i didnt stretch off, i took the bar acouple of times then went to 60kg and it just went....really pissed me off and im not going to be able to squat tomorrow now!

It was a sheiko bench program, some days i was benching twice worked out that some weeks i would bench 8 times.
