Hi,

Long time no post.

Hope everyone is good.

Just a quick question (and easier than me doing my own independent ‘google research’);

What are the options for Drug Free powerlifting nowadays?

Still GBPF & BDFPA?

I’m looking at getting back into competing in some fashion and would like to see where the cool kids (you guys) recommend.

Thanks in advance.

Depends what you're looking for.

GBPF is probably the highest level of competition with BDFPA being the lowest.

You've also got now the ABPU which is the tested side of the BPU. Which would be my personal choice. Better atmosphere, more fun, tested and untested lifters can lift together (which is helpful if you have training partners/friends who are untested) and still a good standard of lifting.

It also depends how you want to lift. GBPF obviously has single ply and then their raw division is knee sleeves on squat. ABPU has a bare knees division and classic raw (raw with wraps. You can wear knee sleeves but you'd be in the wrapped class.

most credible (in terms of talent depth ) tested fed by far is the GBPF.
ABPU is also good as it allows a platform to compete
with everyone regardless of drug use as a drug free lifter.

There is the IPF, and there is everything else.

You're going to get the best depth of talent, the only credible (WADA) testing, and far more comps.

Obviously opinions will vary, but this is mine.

However - if you're at a decent club, you should lift where the good lifters there lift. If you're not, you should change that.

If you're good and want credible records and titles that mean something and to compete on a big stage then British Powerlifting.

If you're more just wanting to have fun and chase your own numbers instead of records then Abpu is a good option to consider.

If I was to stop drinking tren smoothies I'd go ABPU.

Currently lift BPU and love it. The ABPU is no different - it's just the drug tested bit. You all lift together.
