Referred for an MRI and xray... doc seems to think the long head bicep tendon is screwed on some level after my examination.

Just wondering if anyone else here has experienced this injury (or something similar) and could give me a likely prognosis/overview of treatment/recovery etc.

Thanks in advance!

That's exactly what my physio thinks is wrong with mine.

Not much I can offer but I'll be interested in how yours goes!

I tore the long head of my bicep about 6 weeks after having my pec fixed. For the bicep they didn't do anything as by the time they have your results etc the tendon will have retracted back up into the shoulder capsule. It's been about 14months since then and my bicep strength is pretty much the same on both sides, but pressing strength is still very weak. Not sure if that's any help?

Time will tell exactly what they find but it seems pressing strength can be regained. My doc said to some extent the LHB tendon is not even needed for "strength" as such but then lifting 135kg is not common practice I guess.

I'll keep this thread updated with my progress etc.

I've had heaps of issues in the past with this. I get tendonitis in it and it comes when I stop doing all my rotator cuff exercises, and I don't prioritise my scapular work. To fix I just lighten the loads and do a massive amount of the above stuff. Given a month I am pain free again and can get my strength back up.

Also graston theropy and ease the pain. It lessened it for me, but some people it fixes them straight away.

What scapula work do you do?

I do face pulls, single arm rows, dislocations. I used to do some rear delt flyes on a machine in my old gym but have since move house/area/gym.

The owner of the gym I go to have used some voodoo flossing techniques which brought about a brilliant return to full ROM. The sharp pain is still there though.

If you've completely torn your long head you'd see it. For anyone that has seen my bicep they'd understand what I mean.

It is usually caused by not training rotator cuff. I just left mine and was back lifting heavy again after. Being totally honest it's never been the same since though, it's especially bad when not warmed up but it does tend to ease off as the session goes on.

Cheers Terry.

I have found that training it a little has made a difference in terms of pain management. I'll update the thread with the MRI results.
