Most of the lads did themselves proud and made the qualifying weights, with a couple of bad luck stories along the way. There were nine in the group, including Marc, who was doing bench and deads himself, so I can see why he needed a bit of a hand. Most of then hit the qualifying numbers they needed. Young Mark, a T2 100, did especially well, qualifying for bench with an easy 100 before getting a 400 pound deadlift with his 4th lift and setting, we think, a British age group record. Sorry I can't remember all the names, but an enjoyable day was had by all. Young George (whom some of you will remember did his first comp at Oldham last December) benched equipped this time but bombed unfortunately. Couldn't press a weight he was pissing in the gym. Likewise young Roger, a mere 65 years old doing his first comp, bombed with a weight he can triple in the gym. It happens, lads. As usual, Jabba and Gerald did an excellent organisational job. | ||
