larrywood | Torn hand a week before a comp! | 11-07-2011 @ 22:40
Member 2066, 97 posts | Im entering into Highlands strongest man in Inverness on Sunday the 17th July, and this Sunday being my last session before the comp, I went to my max and ripped the hard skin, and a good portion of my hand, off. I still want to compete does anyone have any miraculous suggestions to ease me through the deadlift and farmers events I face next weekend. The other events shouldn't be a problem. Id have posted a picture only I don't know how to.

a dork Member 1023, 846 posts | Taping a hand is easy to do! Make an X between the fingers from the back of the hand to the palm covering the torn callous then make a wrap around the hand. It will kind of look like the way a boxer might wrap their hands, but only bewteen the damaged parts. I hope this makes sense?! I'd put a pic up, but I don't have access at my work computer to do so. With this setup though you should be able to do anything you normally would with little to no pain. Bring lots of extra tape though as the wrap on the middle of the hand tends to roll up towards the fingers with heavy weights in hand. Good luck!
