Hamsons IPF World Seniors Prep

I am hoping to compete in Norway at the IPF World Champs [Senior Comp].

The comp is running from the 5th - 10th of November.

My best competition total is 865kg which I did at the European Juniors about a month ago this total placed me 5th which was my goal so very happy with it.

My best comp lifts are;
Squat - 337.5
Bench - 235
Dead Lift - 305
@ 105 kg Body Weight.

My next competition is the British Seniors which is on the 23rd of June. This is my last year as a Junior lifter so I need to make these last few comps count.

I am currently weighing around 101 - 102 kg my body weight has dropped off abit in the last weeks I think this was due to having food posioning, but I will be pushing this up my goal is weigh around 107/8kg.

I am also looking for some sponsorship [Supplements & International travel expenses], if any one can help get in contact.

I will do my best to make my log a interesting read!

Hi Ian. I train 3 - 4 times per week. Squat three times, bench 3 - 5 times somtimes twice in one session and pull 2 - 3 times per week. Majority of my squatting is to a box. I generally train by feel.

Box Squat - 14" No Belt
60, 100, 140, 180, 210, 230 [Triples]

The 230 is a default pb, the no belt stuff is still fairly new to me. But am enjoying it, my pb box squat is 280 with just a belt I think I will get that with no belt in a couple of months.

Medium Grip Bench Press
60x1x10
100x1x5
120x1x5
140, 155, 162.5 [Singles]
120x1x10

Little finger just touching the power ring.

I have been roped in to doing the NW Comp tomorrow, am just gonna treat it as a training day and try and have some fun with it.

GBPF NW Lans & Cheshire Comp

I decided to do this comp two days before the event, a group of lifters from derby that I train with now and again twisted my arm into competing, so I just treated this as a training day and to see where I am at before I ramp up my British Seniors prep.

Weighed in at 102.6

Squat

Warm Ups

65, 105, 145
Suit Bottoms On & Knee Wraps
185, 185, 225, 255
Straps Up
285

Warm ups went well.

First Attempt
310 - Quick Good Lift

Second Attempt
330 - Good Lift, more in there.

Third Attempt
340 - No Lift got pinned out of the hole tbh I don't think I was focussed enough for this one.

Happy with the squatting considering the heaviest weight i've had my back is a 260 beltless box squat since the Europeans, 340 is do able weight for me now. It will go at the seniors.

Bench

I new going in to this that I wouldn't get a great bench, very little time in the shirt since Europeans.

Warms up went ok

60, 100, 120, 140 / Shirt On 170, 190

First Attempt
215 - No Lift. Not sure why I wasn't given this.

Second Attempt
215 - Good Lift

Third Attempt
225.5 - No Lift

These weights felt very heavy! The plan of attack for the Seniors is;

- Get rid of the Super Katana. I will start benching in a normal katana again as I can control the bar more and get a touch higher up, as the super feels like am taking it so low then its throw back in to lockout.

- Sort my balance out, get the elbows tucking and out at the same time and same angle, therefore making the press easier.

Dead Lift

Suit on from the start

70, 120, 170, 210, 250

First Attempt
285 - Good Lift

Second Attempt
307.5 - Good Lift - PB

Third Attempt
Pass

Total
852.5 kg

Good training day, time to work on a few things for the seniors.

Super total. If you could hit 900 in the next year os so, that'd be immense
