The latest addition to the site, the Sugden Barbell PB Chart, allows members to record their PBs in lifts outside the big three (squat, bench and deadlift).

As there is a growing interest in strongman and also a bit of interest in olympic lifting, it's an ideal chance to record and compare your best lifts in these areas.

There are also a few other lifts which are relevant to powerlifting and strongman such as board pressing.

Visit the chart at:

http://www.sugdenbarbell.co.uk/forum.php?a=pbchart

If you have any suggestions for charts to be added then please make them below.

Please bear in mind that we do not want too many lifts of the same type appearing - so think of good all round targets that can be used (instead of 300kg yoke for 22.5 metres for example).

Great idea Rob!

Close grip bench press would be a good addition.

I did consider that but then I thought it's pretty much the same as everyone's bench press pb minus 5-10k... anyone else got an opinion on this?

Pin pulls (knee weight)?

I thought of some kind of rowing movment but would probably have to get too specific in terms of body position etc

Rack Pulls are a funny one because depending on where they are they can be miles more or even less than from the floor. Maybe if we agreed on a setting from *just* above the knee and no higher?

I have to disagree I think barring the 3 big ones and Oly lifts there shouldn't be any other exercises that warrant PBs. Its like all this PB stuff for 3s, 5s, 10s etc which I also disagree with. At times it seems like people are clutching at straws to claim any sort of PB.

I can somewhat understand your point of view when it comes to rep PBs, but to suggest that there shouldn't be any PBs outside of 5 specific exercises is ludicrous and actually a bit boring (don't get too Scottish on us Tony).

I think it's silly that you're essentially saying that a strongman shouldn't care about a log or overhead PB, or an athlete about a power clean PB and so on. The world of lifting is far larger than just powerlifting and the two main olympic lifts.

Point taken Rob. Its just I would hate to see Sugden degenerate into a place where how much you can pec deck fly was a major talking point.

Obviously I have no objection with strongman event PBs, but the first time I see someone claim a PB on rear lateral raise I'm offGrin

I have some sympathy with Tony's point of view. I think the main problem is probably that if a lift isn't one that'd be in competition then there are no definite criteria for what counts as a valid performance of the lift.

How about 18 inch deadlift as a compromise to the rack pull? That is a bona fide event in many strongman comps.

Yea but I suck at them, they're right on my sticking point.

General concensus will prevail.
