Cheers Neil, feels like i've got a nice plan for squatting thanks to Dom, feels a great system to slowly build up strength on. The addition of some 5x5 and doubles and triple in my training is feeling good too.

Looking at possibly getting some axle work in and consider this strongman comp just unsure its worth me entering if a few events i won't even get a rep lol! I don't want to take up a place if i can't do a decent job.

keep it up dude, the pressing is really coming on with your plan and huge volume you do on it,

as for squatting its just going to take time, and patience i'm affraid.
one tip given to me was to do paused squats

Ta Neil, i'm pretty pleased with how its all going. Squats are always going to be tough for me, i'm a natural deadlifter and feel i can deadlift 250kg anytime of day or night now but squatting comes hard for me. Hard graft will get me there this year for sure. Yep i got paused squats in there mate in Doms routine i do them belted and beltless, feels good.

Hey John. Pretty well mate, at the end of my prep phase i was 14s 13lbs depleted, sitting around 15s 7lb now but with 1/4" smaller waist. I'm cutting carbs back a bit now and trying to lean out around this weight, drop another 1/2" or so around stomach then slowly up them again to edge close to a leaner 16 stone. Fitting into size 32" jeans at this weight is a huge acheivement for me and tbh they are loose!! So yeah working nicely and its nice to have a pizza and a beer after heavy deadlifting!

Well then went ok, stalling out on the max singles, got 4 last week and 4 again this week so i'm dropping to doubles now with an aim of hitting 135kg x 10 doubles then go back to singles with 140kg aiming for 10 then onwards to my max for mutiple singles. Going to take a few months but should pan out ok. The 127.5's feel very light in the hands now and first few doubles moved very quickly and easily, a good 5 maybe more there on first set should i have wished i feel. Last time i tried doubles with 127.5kg was on Jan 8th this year, managed 2 tough doubles so progress is there already. Next week i shall up to 130kg and aim for 7-10 doubles, hopefully 10, without the max singles beforehand it should be there.

Decided to get some slingshot work in after to help my weakness, not done these in ages and managed a very very slow 152.5kg last time out. Today the 140's felt way to easy, 145's moved no problem and the first pb attempt of 155kg was a piece of cake, the 157.5kg moved slower but powered through to a strong lockout, 160kg there now i'd say fresher. Triceps felt pretty wasted afterwards. Speed work to finish was fast and strong and went very well.

Flat dumbell press

Easy enough but feels tough on shoulders for some reason, can't go heavier as thats as heavy as my old dumbells go. Hit chest pretty hard.

Axle Clean and Push Press

Sacked them off and confirmed to me i am not competing in the strongman comp. By the second rep the tendonitis in my bicep attachment was killing me, the cleans are a crap movement for me big time.

Finished off with voodoo trick to elbows = pain gone then a load of shoulder re-hab and banded tricep pressdowns. Decent session in the end.

Deads, squats and more pressing tomorrow, tattoo being done wednesday so may have to miss a few days and train saturday, if its not too bad i'll continue as normal.

im in the same boat mate with squating i can deadlift fine but got to graft for the squat. Just keep hammering it mate.

Cheers bud! Trouble is wraps make a HUGE difference in my squatting in terms of form and strength, hence one of the reasons i'm considering equipped lifting eventually!. With Doms routine i feel i can get some good progress at last!

Do whats best for you mate, i always were knee sleeves and after 140kg i wrap my knees partially because i have no feeling in my lower left knee so the wraps also help with balance.

Well i have to go bare knee for now as i'll be competing raw for the first comp but i have a feeling i shall be getting a suit and some new wraps before long lol!

I agree the feeling of security is great with sleeves and wraps, hard to get used to not having them there but doing ok at the moment! Luckily my knees are ok..at the mo!

im lucky as i dont compete in power lifting but im sure if you train the same way for your legs as you do for the rest you will smash it.

Cheers pal, hope so, looking at 200kg bare knee, 227.5-230kg wrapped and MAYBE 240kg+ suited by end of year.
