Thor ones are closest in stiffness to the APT convicts.

Thing said:How much do you rate your Strength Shop Perpetual Weightlifting Bar ? Looking for a bar to squat deadlift and bench on
Or would a Texas or Ricky Dale Crain power bar be better?

Great bars, but depends on how much weight you're moving with it, and also what the main style of lifting will be. They're essentially weightlifting bars, but good for PLing too, with relatively moderate weights. Same shaft as the weightlifting bars though, just different sleeves/ends. Power Bars better for heavier powerlifting for sure.

We'll also be releasing a 29mm shaft Perpetual bar with sharp knurling, and lifetime warranty, as well as a 28.6mm shaft power bar also with lifetime warranty, over the next few months.

We don't stock them any more I'm afraid, just the 2m ones.

I don't know about the perpetual bar Neil, but I bought one of the sprung steel weightlifting bars and have been very impressed with it. It's slightly less bendy than an Eleiko with knurling sharper than the Eleiko but not as sharp as a Texas Powerbar. Personally I think it's one of the best bars I've used outside of Eleiko, Texas or Pendlay. I can't imagine the perpetual is that much different aside from the bearings maybe.

Glad you like the WL bar,we often favour it over the other brands in the gym, really 'nice' feel to it. Good level of flex and knurling on it.

Should be this Wednesday or Thursday.

JohnGym said:Which bands would you recommend for assisted Pull Ups?

I can already do around 5 sets of 3 but would like to be doing more like 5 sets of 15 so need some assistance.

Any advice?

Not sure if it is relevant but I am 5'10" tall.

Would say 41" Greens (No.4's) or Blues (No.3's). The Reds (No.2's) are only designed to give 4-23kg of resistance. With pull ups, the likelihood is that you're going to put more weight on them that this, even with a relatively low bodyweight, but it depends on how you have them set up really.

Will you be stocking the titan signature gold wraps?
Any ideas how they compare to the other types?

What tacky would you recommend for use in the winter mate, also in all honesty are any of them any good in the temps were getting at the moment. Oh and is there much difference between spider tack competition and light?

Will consider stocking them in the future yes. Not sure how they compare though, not seen them before.

The spider tack light is your best bet for really cold temperatures. Cool weather is good for the cold too.

Fair different between the comp grade and light spider tack, light is just softer, a lot easier to clean off. Not as sticky as the comp grade, but ideal for training and cold weather.

I'm looking to upgrade to a power rack. I like the look of the Strength Shop Power rack, i was just wondering how much of a battering can the pins take? I plan on using it to do pin presses, and to use when i fail a squat.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but how many of your 5kg plates can you get on each side of the Olympic Dumbell Handle (w/ the screw clamps)? Thanks.

ps: got my okie bar / squat stand / 150kg of bumper plates / mat/ deadlift blocks today! very happy.

Looking at a small garage setup for powerlifting(loading up to 220kgs), want something better than the cheap 32mm bars at £80. Would the "Olympic Weightlifting Bar - Spring Steel Shaft" be a good choice and whats the difference between it and the "functional training bar".

They'll take a good beating. Would bend if a squat was dropped on them from height, but other than that never seen, or heard of, them bending. Even then, they are easily removable so we can provide replacements if necessary.

It's not a crazy amount, off the top of my head I think 4 per side.

Glad your order reached you safely, some nice toys there! We use the Okie bar at the gym, awesome bar!

All our bars other than specialist squat and deadlift bars are 28mm shafts, but yes, better spending a bit more and getting a better quality bar. The Sprung Steel Shaft WL bar is a good option if you're talking about &rt;220kg. The Perpetual Bar is similar, but comes with a lifetime warranty, and if just £20 more. The functional training bar is more of a crossfit bar, designed for frequent dropping with light weights etc, wouldn't be happy with heavier (150/200kg+) on it.

I noticed the perpetual WL bars were on weekly special with a significant discount. I was wondering if you will be doing something similar when the power version comes out?
