I suppose it depends how strong your grip is really. For me (because I have a decent grip) my body gives out first. I used to stop due to pain, now I can tolerate that and go on until my body can no longer stay stood upright, which I suppose is my core that gives out first. Guys with a weaker grip will probably find their grip gives out first. I just need my core to catch up to my grip and I should be looking at 1.5 minutes. (Bear in mind though that although this is good compared to those BSM times that the implement used can drastically alter the time - my farmers are very grip friendly so need to use more weight/go on for longer than I may on another farmers).

Axle clean and press (60mm axle)
75kg x 3
80kg x 2
85kg x 2
90kg x 2
95kg x 2
100kg x 2
105kg x 1

All reps cleaned once only, powercleans up to 95 then continentals for 100 and 105kg. Pleased with this for a first time. I do need to work my overheads hard now though!!!

Deadlifts on the same axle
115kg x 3
140kg x 1
160kg x 1
180kg x 1
200kg x 1
220kg x 1
230kg x 1
235kg x 1

Axle holds
80kg x about 1 minute

OK let's get excuses out of the way first - it was my stag do last weekend! Nuff said, so needed the week off training to recover, just about started coming round yesterday. Now that the excuses are out of the way let's get to business:

13/4

Log press
70kg x 3 oh dear this isn't going to be fun
80kg x 3 a bit better
85kg x 2 nothing there
85kg x 2 this is appalling!
75kg x 6 better techinque at least!!

Farmers walk
70kg 40m (1 turn)
100kg x 20m
125kg x 40m (1 turn) PB 32.5 secs

Pleased to get a PB considering how weak I obviously am today and the fact that this is the first time in a couple of months I've done farmers due to shin splints. They were harder than I would have liked though and I was all over the place, but my grip was absolutely fine. 140kg x 40m is the goal for this summer.

Stones to 54inches (no tacky)
105kg x 1,x,x
105kg x 1,1,x belt

Still terrible to the high platform but the belt felt good, it's a stayer.

DO axle deads
worked up to 125kg x 1 the finished with some holds.
95kg x 2 sets (first set behind the back).

Glad this one's out of the way. I do need to knuckle down now though and get some weight put on and get some progress made because last weekend was absolutely crazy.

Joni had a good one today (just the 2 of us - we can make it if we try) looking strong on the log and a big farmers pb isn't too far off me thinks.

Planning to hit strongman this weekend buddy?

I have a full spread of events planned Grin Viking press 100 for reps, 420kg tyre, heavy deadlift & hold (on that trap "bar" fixed rom thing) and 200kg duck walks.

Also, would it suit you to train strongman on the friday 27th after work if you cant do the saturday and sunday is the NW Open?

do you need a tyre for flipping?
theres a place near where i work in trafford park that has 2 f**king huge tyres
they are knackered and look like they are waiting to be scrapped, i thought of you guys today while passing them, i know most places give them away as they cost alot to be disposed of

OK, been really busy recently (started back at work!) so a few updates.

Sun 22/4

Not feeling too great today (hangover) so not in the mood for Strongbow, sorry strongman. Just did some strict presses - worked up to 85kg x 3 which was surprisingly easy considering how weak I am at present and I haven't done them for ages.



Tues 24/4

Squats
worked up to 170kg x 6

Deadlifts
worked up to 220kg x 2 crap. It's a long road back from the staggy.



Wed 25/4

Axle press
40kg x 5
50kg x 3
60kg x 3
70kg x 3
80kg x 2
90kg x 2
100kg x 2
80kg x 8 Not too bad on these, getting back to somewhere semi-respectable now, just another week or 2 and I should be reet.

1 arm BB rows
worked up to 70kg x 6

Bench press
worked up to 120kg x 5

Wide grip, palms-facing chins
BW x 5
+10kg x 15 lats were already pretty fried from the rows so these were OK I suppose

Seated rack lockouts
60kg x 5
100kg x 3
110kg x 4
