Right I have been think what would be best to stregthen the core.

What I do now.
When I walk I tense my core for as long as possible
Use gymnastic rings to do a superman / Ab whel type movement
Leg raises with small kicks until failure
Wood choppers with bands.

What I'd like to improve is my core strength with mobility so that I can continue to rehab effectively. So I'm reaching out to the sugden massive in what there thoughts are.

Remember no events just now.

Use the overhead pulley to do standing ab crunches. If you really curl your torse up and down it's a great exercise, keep adding weight!

Hmm a little unsure about using that movement with the issues I've had with my back! Mind you I think I could try these again

Planks then weighted planks when you get better at them. I do rope crunches too.

look in kirkynick's journal, you just hold a bar in the rack position for time (30 secs ish? ) no belt of course, and just works abs hard

So I gather anyway

Sorry Matthew I meant Matthew leftwich.

I've done the front squat holds before. Looking for alternatives until I can fully load the back again

I think this could be a great exercise for you Neil.

The only downside I can see with things like planks, rollouts etc. is that they engage both the back and abs together so that you core works as a whole. Any crunching type exercise is, in effect, inhibiting the use of your back as the abs contract.
