hey, congrats before session log entry Cool

OVER THE f**kING MOON!

Deadlifts
10x60
5x100
3x140
1x180
1x205
1x222.5kg - new PB!
1x227.5kg/500lbs - the milestone defeated!
fx130 - heart not in it because of reaching such a great milestone.

felt almost like cheating because i wore a singlet, and it was really tight. Anyways, the lifts were easy enough to have been done without it, competition singlet just makes me focus for a new PB on squats and deads, almost like a ritual.

Speed squats
6x60
5x100
6x2x130

barbell rows - couple sets
t-bar rows - heavy sets

ab pulldowns
8x56
7x70
5x70

The only difference the singlet will make is psychological - nice work mate!

hey thanks everyone - it was about time i nailed that 500lbs milestone! One more classical milestone to go, 300lbs bench, and that looks like million miles away at the moment...

Gutted that there is no video, would have loved to see the form, the speed etc - the reps were so focused i cant remember anything about them Grin

Uber nice deadlift mate - you are really progressing well at the moment - I hope that the momentum will take you to 300lb on the bench too Grin

I wouldn't say the 137.5 bench is a million miles away after the 117.5 for sets of 5.

I agree. You know what the problem is - you suck at singles. There is no logic to it.

Once you conquer your psychological insecurities you will bench 300lbs easily.

Reverse band benching in the power rack !?! Grin

aye, i know you guys are right, but at the same time that wont remove my problem with singles. If i solve that, i will add 10kg to my bench overnight. Meanwhile, back on planet earth however, i need to battle for any small addition to my bench...

ok writing this here, may sound a bit cheesy or korny, but i want to save this for posterity.

Looking back at the deadlift session, so many things went right for the day.

Starting from previous training, i took it easier on my sundays squat session with only one heavy set to save myself for the wednesdays pulling. I also started to think about the wednesdays session and what my goals were days before and tried to eat accordingly.

On wednesday i woke up feeling like i was getting a cold, but this feeling soon went away and i started hyping myself up. I had three Linda McCartney pies at work (=1365 calories), a litre of soya milk, and some other bits and bobs - calorie intake was spot on indeed. Few hours before the session was due to start i watched some big monster deadlift videos online, Jouko Aholas 3x360kg deadlift with a nosebleed was especially inspiring. Also, me and Olly started hyping up and exchanging random abuse 2 hours into the session via MSN. On the way to the gym i put on my headphones and listened to aggressive metal full blast.

At the gym i was already in the zone in such a way that i didn't care how busy it was or what happened around me. Sure, there were alot of people but i didnt see them or hear them. From the start we knew that today was about pulling big weights and this was the attitude from the first warm up. Olly recommended that i pulled every set after 140kg like it was my max and i think that mental attitude helped as well. Of course because he was going heavy as well, the mood and determination spreads and sticks on you.

In the end, 500lbs milestone broken, 7.5kg PB and with a feeling that there is plenty more in the tank.

(and for the record, olly pulled 250kg and 8x200)

Can we see some examples of the form this abuse took? Just for scientific research purposes.

For the record, I decided to pull big when I found out you were maxing. Knowing that I can be rather overenthusiastic, I realised that I would get as focused as you for your deadlifts, so why not use that to my own advantage, and pull big myself.

The atmosphere on Wednesday was awesome. We both turned up knowing what we wanted to do, and knowing that we were going to do it. Seriously mate, wednesday night was one of those workouts that makes me happy to train with the right people; like minded, determined, stubborn c**ts!

If someone were to ask me why having good training partners is so important, showing them a video of Wednesday's workout would trump anything that I could put on paper.

Oh, and thanks for your help Wednesday mate. Lets see if we can get that focus back in more of our sessions, bench especially. We both need work there.

aye man, good day it was, like i said, it will be in the book of legends Grin

having said that, you cant possibly summon that kind of mental energy, determination and attitude for every session - i feel so drained today, two days after the wednesdays hammering.

But in a few weeks time we should repeat the same for bench... PB time!
