Worst clean of the day? That was the BEST clean of the day. See if weightlifting involved going for a walk after lifting the weight, it'd be far more entertaining.

Good work rate tonight chap! I agree - the Oly stuff is proving more fun just now... Something something something dark side, something something something...COMPLETE!

Cheers dude Happy I tell you, the rate you were progressing at with those oly lifts was most impressive. Your cleans were looking well healthy by the end of the session.

Congrats on the 110.

Next press session

85 x reps
95 x reps
105 x reps
75 x reps

Use your second pressing day to work on your shoulder strength or close grip stop eating into your pressing recovery doing paused reps.

I don't see how 5 kg on your bench isn't working but hey 4x6 ftw....

Haha - been a long time since I last did Oly work (almost 20 years ago) and have been too fearful to do it with my weak assed left delt. It's getting better now, so thought I'd give it a go. See if I can beat my pb from years ago of 100k in the next few months. LOL

As far as the snatch is concerned, not gonna be doing it, because that would throw the shoulder out for sure. Well, maybe with an empty bar it'd be ok...

Soon as the Irish comp is out the way I'm changing to fun training again - sod numbers, it's all about the lolz.

Thanks Happy
I think the 85kgs is a good call. That's what I was thinking of dropping it to myself to hopefully squeeze a bit more out myself. The 90 and 100 was getting a bit brutal.
Those rep ranges will defo change it up. A nice half pyramid. You reckon I should give it a blast on Thursday or next Tuesday?

Bry, yeah the snatch is something I'll be giving a miss for a long time yet as well. I always thought that doing it would end up giving me cancer of the nuts or something with the rapid rattling of the boys. If Amy said that she hurt HER dick doing them, I don't fancy putting my dick through the same punishment!

I edited the above post.

Do it next week, do strict on your second day to work on your shoulders if you want to do another bench variant do CG bench press and use a similar approach.

The single number went up like a mofo! I was just a bit worried about the reps not going up for a couple of weeks. Very happy with the single progress though!
I'll hit what you've given above next week. Dreading the sound of the 75kg for reps after all that. Something very similar worked excellently for my squats though and actually speeded up my recovery time!

If you give yourself 4 sets you have more room to accumulate rep PBs, the down set is just for volume/pump go completely to failure on that also if you are pressing 105-110 in a fatigued state fresh you will bench more than 110.

Awesome. I'll defo do that. I'm looking forward to the next time I max my bench out in a few weeks or a few months or whenever. I honestly don't think the 112.5 can be all that far off now. Using this method until my body tells me to f**k off will be pretty fun though. I think it might be the first time I've used pyramids for sets of reps in powerlifting training.

The road to 120 is gonna be an exciting one for me I reckon.
I'm pretty excited about the prospect of moving my bench forward again as it had been a long time since I had taken a PB with it.
