if u got a sticking point, board press at just below the sticking point height, or do pin presses or floor presses, ur choice mate. or use bands and chains Happy

theres alot of pros and cons to think about

if your not aiming to bench in a shirt then there is no point using anything higher than a 3 board also theres no point using the board if you sink it into your chest when the bar touchs and also i haven't witnessed it but i have heard from a few people that when board pressing heavy your alot more likly to get a peck tear

on a plus side i used to love working down the boards at the end of my sessions in a defranco style i have had a few of my mates throw this in there training and its worked well for them as beginners

I still think as a pure tricep exercise the close grip 2-3 board press or floor presses are brilliant. Did all my best presses when doing them. Should really start doing them again....

I'd like to try board pressing at some point. Pin pressing doesn't seem to transfer for s**t to my bench or press. Also heard that board pressing is easier on the shoulders.

Floor press is the bread and butter when it comes to benching helps me out loads because I use my legs so much when I bench so takes all leg drive away when I'm lying down I had good results with a 2 board but bot as much with the 3 and I think 4 is best kept for shirted bench anyone ever tried foam or rubber boards?

I personally don't think you need to go above 2 boards if your training for a raw bench. And then it's only if your sticking point is very high (which mine is). Stuff off the chest should be your bread and butter but as you get stronger then alternating heavy days between paused work off the chest and 2 board press can give your shoulders and nervous system a bit more time to recover.

I must reiterate that if your sticking point is anywhere near your chest then stay away from the boards! For every 10 guys that I train 9 of them smash their pb without going near any board work.

Floor pressing is indeed a nice lift for unequipped benching. Personally up to a 2 board for is as high as I would go.

However I must say all my recent bench press pbs have pretty much come about through straight benching and the addition of a little CGBP work.
