Rules of the house and all...
Did they seriously ban you?
What gym and did you know they wouldn't allow heavy deadlifts at the time?

They banned me from deads Mike!

Ebor gym in York. Named and shamed! Lol. I made 2 old ladies walk out in disgust. They make more on the 'leisure goers' I think.

So Im lost in the world of deadlifts now, searching for a place to house me Unhappy

I disagree with Sam. I've been lowering oly lifts down with control since I was 13. Every other lifter I know can if and when need lower weights down despite weight..Grin

I've always trained in gyms where you can dump the bar, as they've always been weightlifting clubs, however, i can still lower anything i put overhead, under control, if i want to. Probably helped by the fact that i dont have the luxury of jerk blocks or training partners to lower the bar for me if jerking for reps.

I would go as far as to say, that the people best placed for lowering stuff under control is weightlifters as they more co-ordinated, have better timing, are at one with the bar, and are sexy!! Wink

I drop the weight because of the safety point of view. Might explain why I lift below 200. Might try lowering the weight for a few weeks and see if it makes a difference.
I've heard the Sugden slam mentioned a few times in the past and am too green to know what it is. Can someone explain?

Shaun said:On one hand, the negative part of the lift is very important for hypertrophy and strength. On the other hand, most injuries occur during the eccentric phase of the lift, and dropping it causes an almighty crash which turns the heads of all the attractive girls.

So do I just drop it after I've locked it out or am I better off controlling it?

i always try to place it down slowly bcos i train at home alot n the weight room used to be upstairs n feared for my floorboards n the family sittin directly underneath so got used to placing them down, now the rooms downstairs but i lift off wood blocks to make the height up to 9" n there not that wide so i have to try n aim the bar onto them. i do it out of habbit but occasionaly grip or strength fails n dropping it cant be helped, IMO controlling it should be better when it comes to repping.
