Well I had an Xbox, changed to PS3, and changed back....
all the following is my opinion of course

Graphics, great on both but for same games XBOX is better just slightly.

Controller, xbox is much better, ps3 too fiddly and uncomfortable using dual stick

Media, obviously PS3 has blu ray but i never used one..... both can use portable hard drives, and PS3 allows you to save films to internal hard drive which xbox doesnt do.... but, the only way i watch films now is to download them and then stream them wireless from pc to xbox....it is much easier to do this from xbox than ps3 and ive found it more reliable.

online.... xbox is a much smoother online gaming experience in my eyes... although you do have to pay a yearly fee... it is worth it, and the online content such as downloadable games etc are easier to browse through on xbox

they both have positives and negatives as with anything.... i would have a ps3 again no worries but i prefer the xbox myself just find it easier to use for the main things i use.... controller, media streaming, online gaming.

the best point about the ps3 which i wish xbox had is the ability to browse internet.... ps3 has a built in browser so u can surf web on your tele, xbox doesnt

Depends what you want to do with it

PS3 - blu ray/ free online (if that's what you want to do, it is what modern games are for really. This is a biggy) BBC iplayer/ itv/ 4od/ love film/ etc

Xbox - halo and gears if war are meant to be brilliant/ add ons for game usually available a month before ps3/ less server issues with online but you have to pay to play online, this to me is huge.

I personally play the majority of the time online so the ps3 is ideal to me. Plus I've had a ps2/1 and it seemed the natural thing to do

Interesting how me and pompy take the same info in a different light

Pro xbox people seem to hare ps3 online, I have no problem with it at all. And I don't want to pay to play online

Drew that's weird yeah, especially since your dispoable income isn't an issue... honestly mate the xbox is just much smoother online... little stuff like going on, seeing a mate is playing battlefield, then jumping into his game... sending messages to people.... a lot easier....

although, i forgot about bbc i player on the ps3 yeah it is good, AND..... when boxing/football or any pay per view for that matter is on, you can bring up the browser, stream it illegally straight to your tele (which you cant with xbox)

the other thing whhich is important to me is bandwidth use... when the xbox does an update they tend to be small (in the region of 5-50mb), where the ps3 seemed to do 4-5 GB updates...... I use a wireless dongle to go online (when in portsmouth), so i couldn't use ps3 online until I went home to download the update on broadband.

to be honest they are both great in different ways

Most of my mates who have both said PS3 when I was looking a few months ago.

Having a built in Blue Ray would be a good addition for me.

Xbox ! Bought a ps3 last year and thought it was s**t because of of the lack of communication during online play. Then it broke.

PS3.

I am switching from the 360 to PS3. 360 is going all weird on me. If I fire a wepaon in a game my controller turns off. Plus with all the other problems with Microsoft and their products. I am done.

Plus I am an avid Apple user so I naturally hate microsoft. Grin

Depends on intended use, but we use PS3 (with 500GB HDD) as media centre (inc. Blu-ray player). Games are of minimal importance for us; certainly not tried any online gaming.

Any product can fail, the new xbox slim is as reliable as the ps3. My bro bought a PS3 and had to have it repaired by Sony twice in the first 6 months. I don't buy apple products because they tie you in to apple too much, i.e. use itunes if you want to put music on ipod (instead of drag and drop) etc etc.... although I wish they would release Imovie for windows!

also if you're in to downloading films, xbox can play hd copies just like ps3 can, so it can play blu ray standard video, just not blu ray discs

Yeah your right pompy I'm minted Grin

I suppose I could afford to pay for the online gameplay but I don't see why I should have too when ps3 does work well. As for communication, head sets work fine and you can join someone elses game (or at least you can on black ops)

On a slight tangent anyone played arkham asylum, really good
