Member 1736, 25 posts SQ 220, BP 150, DL 220590.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | Yea I'm not really after training advice. Was just after info on specifics of the lifts. Like the bio machanics of the powerlifting style squat, e.g what advantages going super wide have over the squat rippetoe teaches. How muscles may be used differently like 'loads the hamstrings more' and why that is an advantage. Guides on using equipment, and how they effect technique and why they were designed like this. Just wanted to expand on what I already know. Any resources people can recommend?

Just wanted to expand on what I already know. Any resources people can recommend? The "rippetoe style" squat is not too different from how a lot of powerlifters squat. Don't take the American superwide 6-ply equipment SPF/WPC style feds squats as what most powerlifters squat. I guess you can "study" this topic until but you will never truly understand any of it without doing it... Why not just try it and see for yourself what the differences are? Education should start in the weightroom, not via books/forums/videos.

Member 1736, 25 posts SQ 220, BP 150, DL 220590.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | Thanks for the replies. As far as my training goes Im not a novice, been training for years and have a good idea what works for me. I'm not looking to lift in equipment, just wanted to learn a bit about it beyond common sense stuff like a shirt provides rebound.

pointing the way Member 1298, 631 posts SQ 110, BP 65, DL 130305.0 kgs @ 63kgs UnEq | The Westside Barbell DVDs go into this a little bit, although they are mostly films of training sessions with Louis gabbling some explanations at the end. Also see EliteFTS.com for more sport-specific stuff. I haven't read Louis Simmons' book but that might also have what you are looking for.
