Hi Mark, The comp will be in or around Cardiff as I'll be looking to transport all the kit on a budget. We are still considering venues but we have a few positive leads. We're hoping it will be a great day and the start of things to come for Welsh Strongman as we already have around 25 Welsh competitors on the lists which is fantastic for a Nation that rarely sees more than 10 competitors in the National Open each year. | ||

Member 1323, 449 posts SQ 270, BP 210, DL 320800.0 kgs @ 120kgs UnEq | Hi all, We have now filled all the places for the 105 and Novice classes for our comp in March. Our deepest apologies to those on the reserve list but we are delighted that we have 30 Welsh entrants and even though we expect a few to drop out through injury and for other reasons we will still have a very busy day ahead of us. We currently have 10 105s and 20 Novices so it looks to be a great day in the making. I will make all the necessary forms available to all competitors within the next week and we will expect all entry forms and fees to be in by the last working day of January 2011. I will also supply a sponsor form for each competitor and we would like each competitor to raise a minimum of £10 for a very good cause and we would like to collect as much sponsorship money as possible on the day of the comp. Please keep an eye on this thread as further comp details and forms etc. will be posted over the next weeks/months. Good luck to all entrants. | ||

We're extremely pleased that there has been so much interest shown locally and I have met and trained with several of the new competitors and there is certainly a lot of untapped talent just waiting to explode on to the scene in both categories. There will most definitely be several competitors that will be competing against us next year at the Welsh Open so there is a feeling that we have achieved what we set out to by increasing the number of athletes competing for the title of Wales' Strongest Man 2011 and also raising the profile of Strongman in Wales. | ||

Hi Richard, I have added you to the list as it is a Qualifier for the National 105s and it would be unfair to not allow any more competitors to stake their claim so to speak. One competitor has dropped out of the Novice category so we are still working with the same overall figure. Just to clarify this for any other prospective competitors; we would like to keep the figure at 30ish but we will not be able to take any further Novice/First Timers at this stage.
