I think one of the main reasons which makes powerlifting boring to watch !

That may be true when you're lifting, it isn't when I'm up there.

i'm pretty sure it's quite popular in America? Especially the past battles between Andy Bolton and Mark Henry. once Mark Henry wins the WWE title then we'll see the boost in popularity...

lol Grin At least I didn't wait years convincing myself I was good enough or would win something, I just got stuck in.

Would I be right in saying that you've never actually competed against anyone in the same category? I think it's a definite downside but if you don't fair enough, this is why I suggested that some formula encompassing age could be an option if it were possible. That way one day you might actually lift against someone!

Nor did I. The idea of taking part in any form of official competition never crossed my mind until I ventured to Adlington at the age of 49, my first competition was at the age of 50. So once it was decided, or more to the point decided for me, it took about a year, which I don't consider to be overly long.

That is perfectly true, but I don't see how the fact that no-one will compete against me can in any way be held against me.
The more the merrier as far as I am concerned, I have no fear of loosing.
Antyone can enter the northwest, I did, no-one else bothered.
On the strength of that I qualfied for the British, and promptly won that too. Beating all those who didn't qualify and all those who did and failed to turn up, that's quite a lot of people.
I am happy to compete against anyone who wants to. I don't see how anything I win is devalued by the fact that no-one appears to want to.

However will I sleep knowing you disapprove.

Now we know your highly valued opinion, let us throw the question open to those among us who have actually won something. I invite all comments either positive or negative

If this is how Sugden treats it's champions, it doesn't deserve to have any

Pete, get over yourself mate.

Everyone is equal on this board whether they are a world champion or a skinny school-kid.

You are totally twisting my words out of context and arguing against things which I didn't even say. How does saying you 'may one day actually compete against somebody' equate to saying everything you have achieved is meaningless or should be held against you? - It doesn't; you're jumping to conclusions.

Pete, why don't you just show me where I wrote the things you're arguing against instead of your smart arse response? Because I didn't. It's all presumption.

I'm not back-tracking at all, I wrote what I wrote and to be honest I don't give two s**ts what you think about it.

I dont think there's too many weight classes, there's just too few competitors!

Absolutely on the money. Nail and head spring to mind.

One of these can be easily fixed, though.

Sorry to see two of my friends in drama mode. Especially when *both* lifters won their classes unopposed at every comp they've been in.

how old is big jim ?

obviously he looks mid 30's but could be close to 50 in the right light and ready to give pete some competition.

there are plenty of semi-s**te cable channels - mabie one could do a fly on the wall doc about adlington or a BWLA comp , ofcourse i have certain things on a rider befor i agree to be filmed.
