Phsyio

Been having problems with my left knee on and off for about 5 months now, so I finally got my physio to take a look at it.

It was the most painful 45 minutes of recent memory for me - having someone dig around in the back of your kneecap is quite, quite unpleasant.

Good news is that it's nothing major, just a few things being stiff that should move a little. Hopefully it will settle down properly now with a little rehab.

Cardio

Cross Trainer - 45 minutes

DE Bench

85kg + Blue Woody Bands - 8 sets of 3

Hello mate,

The problems have stemmed from a bad motorbike crash I had 4-5 years ago, my left leg was pretty much completely fooked (smashed foot, wrecked knee and sooooo much road rash) but I only got physio for my ankle / foot as I didn't really have any skin left around my knee to work with.

As a result there is a lot of scar tissue in all of the connective tissue around the knee which is impeding the movement of a lot of the joints.

After a lot of deep tissue work, my physio had me do a few common movements and could immediately see several problems where I've subconsciously adapted my technique to work around the injury.
For example, when squatting I transfer all of the weight to the outside edge of my left foot and when hamstring curling I twist my left ankle.

So my misses has been shown where / how to massage and I've got to retrain my body for a few movements.

Hopefully all will be well Happy

Tuesday 07th July 2010 - Legs

Quick session today during my lunch hour.

Squats

Warm-up

4 x 185kg
4 x 185kg
4 x 185kg

Felt loads better this week, that was until my 3rd set when I got a burning sensation at the top of my right leg / groin (had this before when attempting some sumo deadlifts)

2 x 212.5kg

Felt easy but I had to keep everything very tight and smooth to avoid any more pain.

2 x 240kg

Felt strong, even though I was really slow with these

185 x 8

Felt strong again, especially as I was basically feeling each rep out.

I've got some vids which I'll upload later

Leg Press

??kg x 15
??kg x 15

Just loaded lots of plates as I was in a hurry

Leg Extension

??kg x 12
??kg x 12 / ??kg x 9 / sissy squat x 15

Lying leg curl

??kg x 10
??kg x 10
??kg x 8

Stiff Leg Deads - Double Overhand

140kg x 5
140kg x 5
140kg x 5

Toe Press and Seated Calf Raise

4 sets of each

Not too sure what to make about the pain I had during squatting - I'm going to be very careful for the next couple of weeks.

Added a video of the 8 x 185kg - I didn't record the others it seems (either that or my misses has deleted them of the memory card by mistake)

Not in a good place at the moment.

My old man rang me at work yesterday and asked if he could come around to talk later and wouldn't tell me anything over the phone. Had a bad feeling about it all day, which turned out to be well founded....

The poor Sod has just found out he has got prostrate cancer Unhappy

I'm trying to be positive at the moment as the my Dad has insisted on having tests for this annually because he lost his dad to it - so it should mean it's been caught early. He also feels 100% which I hoping in a good thing

I'm taking him the the hospital on Wednesday for a biopsy which will confirm the extent of the cancer and what the next steps are.

I've not really spoken to anyone about this (apart from our lass) and I'm not sure why I'm typing it here to be honest. Just feels better letting something out I guess?

In all likelihood, he's going to be having surgery in the next 10 days and best case will be up and running again in a couple of months. Worst case... well it's as bad as you can imagine.

It's s**t to be thinking like I am at the moment, but I'm arranging a couple of day trips in the next 10 days so he can spend a little quality time with my daughter (and me) before any major s**t happens. I'm just praying to god that these will just serve as good memories to get him though the s**t he has to go through in the coming weeks and not last ones.

My old man is also as fighter, he's as strong mentally as I am physically and he's determined not to go down without fighting with every fibre in his body.

Sorry for bumming you all out.

I did 45 mins cardio to some seriously heavy metal to help clear my mind a little. Surprising ally it did help.

I may pop over to OSG on Sunday (dropping Mini Mac off at her Grandma's in Middleton anyway) as the chances of me training solo in the garage are slim to none at the moment.

f**k!
