The weak link argument doesnt really work because the loads used are usually so much heavier than even the most accomplished bicep specialist could achieve with their pump sessions.

Amen

Nice to know that some of the elite guys don't isolate their biceps. I've been highly criticised for not isolating mine!!

In fairness, I think Col meant paying more attention to the details of training rather than just doing a few curls.

Not tried it myself but some of those single arm kettle bell workouts look pretty demanding,a lot of core and balance work involved, just a thought.

Did the Sercet service snatch test with a 16 but only for 5 minutes instead of ten. ( and usually a 24 bell is used). Hardest thing I have ever done, grip gets f**ked, breathing hard and back is in bits

Gotta agree with terry direct bicep training isn't really needed in are game as there being used in an around events/gym training etc .The only time i concentrate on arm training is when i'm armwrestling but thats a different ball game again lol !!

Joni said:the hip belt is also good for sled dragging etc which i did when my arm was in a sling.

though doing sled dragging for 1-1.5 hours can get on your nerves a bit Grin

the hip belt squats themselves are very hard, and i am happy not having to do them any more!

Them sled drags made me go green just joining in with you at the tail end of you're rehab work Joni!! Very good for fitnes.
Can't really over any advice Terry. Get Well Soon and Good Luck with the rehab.

Sorry to hear about the injury Terry hope you can come back stronger than ever!

Glute Ham Raises although tough for a Big man will give alot more bang for your buck than isolation machines, even if just done eccentrically. I think reverse hypers and sled drags will also help to sustain your readiness for going big again when your healed up!!!

Lower body plyometrics perhaps another consideration, could give you a change in your routine and keep you athletic for the more mobile events.

all the best

thinking out loud...would it be possible to attatch car walk type straps to a farmers frame, set at a low pickup so you could do a squat/back lift type thing or maybe even walk slowly with light weight?? this might swing about to much tho?? bw single leg squats could be good but can be tricky depending on flexibility and mobility. not sure what they would be like for a big guy with big body weight? all the best for a speedy recovery.
